2019 – The Difficult Year

At the beginning of January, it is a tradition to try and forecast the events of the coming year. And, I’ve tried to do that, every year, with limited success. Timing is not my strength, as I have demonstrated over the past few years. Having said that, there aren’t many who have done any better. So, I’m in good company.

However, there is one thing that I can predict with a great deal of confidence:

2019 will be difficult.

My fear is that this will be a great understatement. I certainly hope that it will be smooth sailing with perfect sunsets and fields of green. But, don’t bet on it.

The Cat has Landed

Hi Everyone!

I had hoped to be up and running at full speed by now, but our move to Tainan became more than just a simple Christmas Eve move. It was one of the worst moves that I’ve done, partly because I’m a lot older than when I started down this road of living ‘overseas’.

More than 20 moves in more than 25 years. And, this from someone who HATES to move. Of course, each of those moves has been a way for God to convince me that I didn’t need as much stuff as I had. And, if I accumulated too much of that useless ‘stuff’, my back and knees would pay for it.

And, they do.

(sigh)

Faith and Obedience in Desperate Times

Desperate times are at our doorstep. For some, they are already here. The question on our minds is…

…What do we do when danger threatens us, our family and our neighbors?

Well, I can tell you that nothing tests your faith and obedience like a desperate situation. You might THINK that you know how  you will react, but you won’t KNOW until it happens.

Will you keep your faith and obey God, when everything falls apart?

If you don’t know the answer to that, now is the time to make sure.

3/11 – A Warning Ignored

Sunday was the seven year anniversary of 3/11.

Three eleven. That’s what we – in East Asia – call the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami of March 11th, 2011. The rest of you think of it as the time when the Fukushima nuclear reactors melted down and blew up.

However, it’s more than a disaster. It’s also an allegory of the future – an allegory that we need to pay attention to. Those who do not internalize this warning about the future, will be lucky to survive when that future arrives.

Why do I say this?

Most who died in the 3/11 Tsunami, did so because they ignored the warning – or didn’t hear it.

Three Huge Concerns: Debt, Israel and Hard Hearts

I saw evidence of three great catastrophes this week, and they should start alarm bells ringing in all of our minds:

  • Interest Rates
  • Hezbollah and Iran Challenging Israel
  • Hard Hearts in Our Churches

The last one is the most important, but you’ll understand the first one better. And for the second… you won’t understand the significance, unless you’ve read Ezekiel’s Fire. And, you need to read Ezekiel’s Fire.

I’m going to give an overview of the importance of those three catastrophes. And, I hope that you’ll pay attention to them. They won’t be fixed, but they can be avoided.
