The Weekend Shock Letter for June 6th, 2020

Wow. Someone turned the turbulence up to eleven. The Jacobins came out of the woodwork and decided to trash everything. And, I talked about that, here:

Jacobins in the Night and the Fall of America

It’s as if someone placed an order for a French Revolution to distract people from government stupidity. I’m not ready to say that it was planned, but I’m also not saying that it wasn’t. If this was intentional, their intentions will have unintended consequences.

I’m ready to proclaim 2020 as the ‘Year of Stupid’, and we’re only at the halfway point.

The Wuhan Coronavirus – A Bug in Search of a Windshield

The Wuhan Coronavirus has finally broken its containment. With some exceptions (Taiwan), our governments have handled the situation with complete incompetence, actually helping it to spread. And, we even have a cult to blame for a massive outbreak in South Korea and who-knows-where-else.

The question is…

…what comes next?

There are too many unknowns to be certain, but we think that we might be in for a pretty rough ride. And, the virus itself, won’t be the biggest problem.

All of this sounds like a bug in search of a windshield.

Why Must We Be Morons?

If you want a serious case of depression, read history. No, really. Nothing makes you despair about the future of humanity than a nice, strong dose of the past – which is a demonstration of just how evil and stupid we all are. And yes, I count myself as a member of the evil and stupid.

In fact, I wince at the foolishness in my own past, so don’t think that I’m not leveling the finger at myself. I’m just as much of a drooling idiot as anyone else. The only difference is that I can SEE that I’m a drooling idiot.

Suffering Fools

It’s been a long week, and there’s only so much outrage that you can suffer until you begin to realize that you’ve been on a fool’s errand.

Why?

‘cuz you just can’t fix stupid.

Why I try, I’ll never really understand, but ‘fixing stupid’ has been a lifelong obsession. So, stopping will be difficult. I just don’t suffer fools gladly.

The problem is that many ‘fools’ are there by ‘accident’. So, there’s that part of me that sees this as a rescue mission. The only question is whether this ‘fool’ or that ‘fool’ is worth the effort.

It’s hard to say.

The Republic Has Fallen

Monday marks yet another day of remembrance for those who fell in service to the United States. My family has fought and died in every war that America has fought. We bled on every battlefield from the Revolutionary War, to the wars now being fought by the US in the Middle East and Afghanistan.

Unfortunately, the government of the United States has betrayed that sacrifice. Our government dances on the graves of our fallen, and when we salute the flag on Memorial Day, this Monday… we salute the symbol for pornography, heroin, tyranny, abortion and the lowest forms of stupidity that I have had the misfortune to read about.

The Republic has fallen.
