2019 – The Difficult Year

At the beginning of January, it is a tradition to try and forecast the events of the coming year. And, I’ve tried to do that, every year, with limited success. Timing is not my strength, as I have demonstrated over the past few years. Having said that, there aren’t many who have done any better. So, I’m in good company.

However, there is one thing that I can predict with a great deal of confidence:

2019 will be difficult.

My fear is that this will be a great understatement. I certainly hope that it will be smooth sailing with perfect sunsets and fields of green. But, don’t bet on it.

This Train Will Crash

Though we avoided calamity on Tuesday, we are still on course for a rendezvous with the Bible. A large part of the Bible talks about the time we live in now, but we are so intent on twisting what it says that we can’t see what is coming.

Unfortunately, what comes will turn your hair white, if it isn’t already. Christians corrupt themselves. Nations teeter on collapse. The economy crumbles. The Western World has become corrupt and insanely unjust.

Worse, collapse has arrived, and few of us are ready for it.

This Horrifying Rendezvous with Destiny

Yesterday, I wrote about Strauss and Howe’s book, The Fourth Turning: An American Prophecy. It’s subtitle is: What the Cycles of History Tell Us About America’s Next Rendezvous with Destiny I don’t think that William Strauss or Neil Howe really understood what that ‘Rendezvous with Destiny’ is. In fact, I’m not completely sure that even I do. This Rendezvous is shaping up to be the most horrifying moment in human history, since the Great Flood, and few of us really see it.
