Violence and Famine

Three weeks ago, Putin turned the world upside down. That decision was made months ago, and we are beginning to see the outline of what’s coming. And, the poor will suffer terribly.

Those countries who import food will be hurt the most. And, our first sign of trouble will be violence in the streets. Those who can’t feed their kids, will tear their governments apart. But, it doesn’t end with food.

The global financial system will break. The dollar’s power will collapse – along with American hegemony. And, I’m not sure that Ukraine is going to win this war.

Violence and Famine

Food is life…

…and life is about to change.

The West does not understand what’s coming. We don’t know where food comes from. We don’t know what it takes to grow it. We don’t know what happens when there is less of it. We’re clueless.

Whenever I ask this question, I never find anyone who gets it right:

What percentage of America’s population is engaged in farming?

Here’s the answer from the Farm Bureau:

Farm and ranch families comprise less than 2% of the U.S. population.

And, those farmers (and others) are sounding the alarm about what’s going to happen to domestic and world food supply:

Here are a couple images that should tell you a lot about what’s coming:

Then, a farmer had this to say on Twitter:

You can only imagine what his gas prices are now. The question is whether he can continue to keep producing. At some point, he will have to say, “Enough is enough” and stop farming.

Then, there are the riots in Sudan:

And Turkey isn’t far behind:

China is having their own issues, but it looks like Putin provided Xi with a little advanced notice:

Unfortunately, long term, China is in trouble. And, I wonder if Xi will invade Taiwan to distract the Chinese people from their woes:

Then, to add insult to injury, a key Canadian railroad is about to go on strike:

By the way, if you are on Twitter, read what Nathan Carson is saying. Food is the future, and you need to be paying attention to it.

Oh, and don’t forget that energy and food are closely intertwined:

Our food security problems will spike this year. But, even if this war in Ukraine ends quickly, famine will still become a very long term problem. And, Tucker Carlson echoed this sentiment yesterday, when he said this:

If you want to make a society volatile — not just angry and divided, which is where we are now, but revolutionary and explosive — you threaten the food supply. More governments have fallen to rising food prices than any other cause. Hungry people are dangerous.

That quote comes from this video clip:

Tucker: The standard of living is plummeting

He’s absolutely right. And, the world is going to see an amazing level of violence. This will be very bad, and it will only get worse. As he said, “Hungry people are dangerous.” It won’t be just in the Third World, but in our streets.

A New Financial System

What Putin did, in his invasion of Ukraine was to finish the destruction of our financial system. The US government started the process a long time ago, but it has accelerated in recent years. Here is an interesting overview of how that happened, and why:

The Grant Williams Podcast: Luke Gromen – FULL EPISODE

You might need to listen to that a few times, and look up some of the terms used in that podcast. BUT, it is a valuable introduction to how we got here, and where we are going.

Unfortunately, I don’t share the optimism of Luke Gromen. Yes, manufacturing will return to the United States, but the average person’s income is going to be crushed. Everyone will suffer in this. The value of the dollar will collapse. America’s military will no longer be able to project power abroad. Those who depended upon social security and welfare will become destitute.

In short, this will be a very bad time for everyone.

Quoth The Raven has a far more pessimistic view:

“…our quality of life in the United States and our nation’s entire economy is an elephant balancing, on one leg, on the toothpick of the U.S. dollar’s reserve status.”

That’s from this article on his substack page:

The Dominance Of The U.S. Dollar Is Fading Right Before Our Eyes
https://substack.com/profile/5419983-quoth-the-raven

And as America crashes, expect whoever-Gog-is to gather an alliance and challenge what’s left of European and American hegemony. We are already seeing Putin getting support from Asia:

Russia Says 16,000 ‘Volunteers’ Want to Fight, Most from Middle East

Turkey Says It Will Not Impose Sanctions on Russia over Ukraine
https://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2022/03/14/turkey-says-it-will-not-impose-sanctions-on-russia-over-ukraine/

China is definitely on Team Putin, and India is already in talks to buy oil from Russia, in rubles. And, you’ll never guess who wouldn’t take Joe Biden’s phone call. Yeah, Saudi Arabia. And, we saw this yesterday:

That’s a big OOPS, kids. The US has made too many blunders, and the UAE and Saudi Arabia are tired of it. I mean, America plans on taking the biggest terrorist organization on the planet, off of the sanctions list:

I have always despised US foreign policy. It’s pure evil, and getting worse. And, this is all happening at a time when our financial system crashes and energy prices explode:

Normally that graph would tell us that a recession is on the way. But, I don’t think that this will be just a recession. That image, and the prediction for this year, means suffering and violence everywhere.

Russia’s Invasion Of Ukraine

As I have said before, and will say again:

What Putin did was evil.

Again, I despise American foreign policy. I despise the fact that they lured Putin into doing this. I despise the vile snakes that are behind America’s prodding of The Bear. But, none of that changes how evil and vile this decision was.

Here, take a look at a video clip that Zelensky played for the US congress:

Close the sky over Ukraine!

The violence and suffering in that video is real. And no, I don’t care what people think of Ukraine or Zelensky. That doesn’t matter. What matters is the evil that is happening right now to people who did not ask for it.

Putin did this.

It matters.

However, not even the Russians are all that happy with this war:

Scroll through that thread, and you’ll find that Russian support for Putin’s invasion is fake. There might be places in Russia that don’t have Internet access that don’t know what’s going on, and THEY might think highly of this war. But, all the military age young men who are fleeing Russia clearly do not.

I highly recommend paying attention to Kamil Galeev. He grew up in Moscow and has an instinctive understanding of what goes on there:

Kamil Galeev
https://twitter.com/kamilkazani

There are historical and cultural reasons why this war is happening, and I think that Kamil has a grasp of what those reasons are.

The good news is that Russia is taking a beating in this war. If you want to see billions of dollars of destroyed Russian tanks, trucks and armored personnel carriers, go here:

Rob Lee
https://twitter.com/RALee85

(Rob Lee is a USMC veteran, and clearly knows what he’s talking about.)

The Russians have suffered heavy casualties, and it was a complete shock to them. They did not expect how hard it would be to win this ‘short victorious war’. The Ukrainians are fighting back with tenacity and demonstrating how badly trained the Russian military is:

Rob Lee’s Tweet reminded me of a story from more than twenty years ago, when my brother commanded an OPFOR training company in Germany, at a place called ‘The Box’. He was supposed to emulate Russian tactics. A Russian officer visiting my brother to observe, pointed to an APC taking independent action and moving off.

“What is he doing?”

My brother replied, “Dunno, probably taking advantage of an opportunity.”

The Russian said, “We don’t do that.”

Russia had years to fix what was broken, and didn’t. No solid core of NCOs. Political generals. Brigade commanders forced to lead from the front, because their units are bad at following battle plans. Armor units unsupported by dismounted infantry. No recon units to flush out ATGM teams. Running away from an ambush, instead of assaulting the point of fire. Imprecise artillery fire.

Russia’s battle plan seemed to be ‘go on a thunder run’ through Ukraine, and be back in time for dinner. It didn’t work out that way, so they’ll go back to their traditional methods of bombing cities apart, like Grozny and Aleppo.

Some are saying that their failures are not just tactical, but strategic:

Russia headed to strategic defeat in Ukraine

I’m not as optimistic as that video. Russia has the capability of pounding Ukraine flat and killing millions of Ukrainians in the process. And, since Putin doesn’t have a safe way to climb down from this, that is probably what they are going to do.

Here’s a Tweet that contains a clip of Russia’s advances:

Russia pretty much paused their offensive for a week to regroup. That pause won’t last very long, and there will be a decided change of tactics. Initially, they tried to avoid civilian casualties. I doubt that they will continue to be so ‘gentle’ going forward. Just look at the devastation of Mariupol. It will be like that, everywhere in Ukraine – especially, east of the Dnieper River.

Pay attention to the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) area in Eastern Ukraine:

They are running low on food, and I doubt that they have much ammunition left. NATO countries are sending in ATGMs and MANPADS, but I’m not sure that it will be enough to keep the JFO alive. And, I’m betting that the Russians are starting to learn how to deal with Ukrainian tactics.

Peter Makin, in the comment section from last week’s post, shared a good YouTube channel that has been tracking this war, and I’ve been paying attention to it. Here’s today’s post:

Ukraine War / Day 23 and current situation 2022 #Ukraine #Russia #NATO

(That channel, Military101, comes out of Turkey and seems to be pretty unbiased.)

I want the Russians to lose. What they are doing to Ukraine and the Ukrainians is pure evil. You cannot be a Christian and be neutral on this point. Putin had a choice and chose a vile, hideous and obscene path of violence and destruction.

Again, watch this video, if you haven’t:

Putin and the Russians are engaged in mass murder. It’s that simple. And, there can be no question about this. The only thing that we don’t know is the final body count.

When Gog Comes

As I have been saying for weeks now, I think that we should be considering which horse of the Apocalypse is about to ride, and then… how this points to the coming of Gog and Magog. I have proven that Gog comes long before the Antichrist rises, and you can see that proof, here:

When Gog Comes

I truly hope that you’ll be ready for this

A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.Proverbs 22:3

  1. John i can sense the emotion your feeling in your words. My heart weeps with you at the pain and suffering in the world, and at Gods righteous judgment yet to come upon humanity.

But i must caution you as a brother. Do not allow your emotion to cloud your perceptions.

Good and Evil are not definitive terms, they are subjective based on human perception. We must as Christians see things from Gods perspective. I totally agree that Putin is evil from a human perspective, but not for what he is doing rather simply because he is human.

Ask someone pro Palestinian if Israel is evil, they will say yes.
Ask someone in Taiwan if China is evil they will say yes.
Ask someone in Iran if America is evil they will say yes.
Ask someone if the Soviets starving millions was evil they will say yes….

    And they are right.

But ask a womens lib supporter if Christians are evil they will say yes.
Ask someone in India if the British are evil for starving up to 3 million in the Bengal famine of 1943 they will say yes.
Ask a Maori or Aborigine if their governments were evil for murdering their peoples they will say yes.
Ask African Americans if slavery was evil they will say yes….

And on and on it goes. Each time there will be people who argue that the other side was evil based on their own perceptions.

All of humanity is evil, because for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Hence we need a redeemer, not for humanity but for us as individuals.

When God commanded the Israelites to enter the promised land and kill all who lived there was His command evil? Was his plagues upon Egypt and the destruction of its army and Pharoah evil? When He commanded the destruction of Amalek 1 Samuel 15:3 and kill even the infants, was that evil?

I have devoted 26 years of my life to healthcare, working as an Anaesthetic Assistant. I have seen the evils of passion, pride, greed, lust and envy. I have sat with the dead and dying. I am no stranger to the suffering of humanity and its evils.

What i see in Ukraine disgusts me. So does the suffering in Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria, Venezuela. The suffering i see in America, Europe, Africa, Asia….. and the suffering i see yet to come where at least 2 billion will die.

Gods word warns us on being double minded, so i ask you 1 question.
Do you want the suffering to stop in Ukraine? If so then you want Ukraine to surrender and Russia to win. If you want Russia to lose, because that means you want the suffering and horror to get worse as Russia obliterates Ukraine and gets into a war of attrition and insurgency.

At this point there is no third option…. except intervention, nuclear war and the death and suffering becomes unimaginable.

I want Ukraine to surrender and end the suffering. I want Russia to go home and end the suffering. I want NATO to stop expanding and causing more suffering. I want America to look to its own people and their suffering. I want a world that bends its knee to Christ and stops the suffering….

Ultimately it’s not about what i want.
Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane made it clear what our prayer is to be.
“If it be your will let this cup pass before me, yet not my will but yours be done”.

Our sufferings are ultimately not the result of geopolitics, or this or that persons evil. It is a result of our sin against God and His judgment against us.

    Bless you brother.

    • Hi Peter Makin,

I don’t think that I did a good job of explaining WHY I believe Putin is evil. And, while it’s true that I am deeply grieved over what’s happening, my analysis has nothing to do with my feelings.

What Putin chose to do was murder.

Now that he has changed his military strategy, it is now mass murder.

That is, by definition, evil and demonstrates that the person making those choices is evil.

Putin’s invasion was not self-defense. Please be very, very clear about this. Putin did not invade Ukraine because he was threatened by NATO, or was seeking to defend Russian speakers. None of that is why he did this. Those who claim otherwise are deluded or trying to sell you something. My earlier posts about why Putin would not invade Ukraine are an example.

Putin had already achieved his objective for keeping Ukraine out of NATO. NATO does not accept nations that are engaged in territorial conflict. And, Russian-speaking Ukrainians are NOT being persecuted in Ukraine. And, the neo-Nazis in Ukraine number in the thousands. Not even ‘tens of thousands’. Just thousands.

As Christians, we have a very clear standard for evil. Murder is evil. Mass murder is many times more evil.

Therefore, Putin is – by every standard that we have – evil. As Christians, we have no other choice but to make that judgment. This is an objective classification.

Ukraine has its own sins. We could go all day about the sinfulness of Ukraine. But, they did not engage in mass murder against Russia. They did not invade Russia. That doesn’t make Ukraine good. But, there is one thing that I can tell you:

There are a lot of our brothers and sisters in Christ, in Ukraine. In fact, there might be more true Christians in Ukraine, than in Russia.

I’m not talking about the Ukrainian Orthodox church. I’m talking about Bible-believing, God-fearing Christians who are faithful in word and deed – and share the gospel every chance they get. And many of these Christians have stayed behind in Ukraine to care for those who are suffering.

As Christians, we are required by God to understand the difference between Good and Evil. Abortion is evil. Adultery is evil. Fornication is evil. Violence that is not self-defense, is evil. Theft is evil. Disobedience to God is evil. Murder is evil.

America’s second invasion of Iraq was evil. Putin’s initial invasion of Ukraine was at this level of evil. And yes, everyone involved in that invasion of Iraq should be classified as a mass murderer. I have said this many times, and have named names. However, Putin has now moved past that and has knowingly engaged in the murder of millions.

Putin knows what’s happening now, and what will happen in the future. The death of millions is unimportant to him.

Set aside the propaganda that the ‘Anti-Establishment Right’ is producing. They have it wrong – just as wrong as the blood-thirsty Left. Our job, as Christians, is Truth in Love.

Putin is evil. This is a coldly objective fact. There can be no question about this.

I hope that clears up my position, Peter.

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

      • “Putin and the Russians are engaged in mass murder. It’s that simple. And, there can be no question about this.”
“Putin is evil. This is a coldly objective fact. There can be no question about this.”
Hello Bro John, Hope all is well with you and your lovely wife. Excuse me, I rarely write or comment on anything. At 71 it’s all I can do to take care of my ownself. But I like you whether I agree with you or not, you’re a hard worker. Those two statements above from your article and previous response – excuse me Brother but that sure sounds like the democrats after the election theft in 2020, “no questions”. There is now a group trying to charge/disbar 100+ lawyers that made an effort to do so. I question most everything. The 2nd Gulf War was evil? What about all the other death and destruction we have been raining down on the middle east for the last 30 years. The worst was Libya, a prosperous peaceful nation whose leader shared the oil wealth with his people, have videos from a good Christian couple who were there at the time. It is plainly evident to me the US is an arrogant, evil bully nation. How can Pres Putin not think we are a threat? Following video is just 5 minutes and gives a good overall view of the situation.

        https://youtu.be/ymdIC5EJgQk

Nato won’t accept Ukraine? They were negotiating prior to 2014 and the leader told them no after he learned it would cost Ukraine about 150 + billion. that’s when US instigated and financed the revolt to overthrow him and get their puppet in. If Putin hadn’t stepped in within 2-3 years Nato would be there with their missiles and from what I’ve heard it is about a 5 minute flight time from Ukraine to Moscow for a nuclear missile. A country can’t defend against that. I don’t know how anyone can’t see that is as our ’63 Cuban missile crisis. With the roles reversed. My friends and family can’t see my view but it is plain as day to me but if you can’t either that is peachy fine. One other thing, Ukrainians have not been killing Ukranians? I think you might want to do a bit more research before you spread that stuff. 15,000+ and counting. With our money and weapons, west killing eastern, Donbass area.

        Duane

        • Hi duane griffith,

All of that is true, and I’ve been yelling about it for years. Yes, years. American foreign policy is evil, and I have lived the effects of that policy for more than 25 years in Asia. What is going to happen to me and my 23 million Taiwanese neighbors will have everything to do with the evil of supporting the CCP, and not allowing Taiwan to defend herself.

Unfortunately, none of that is why Putin invaded Ukraine. Nor is NATO as strong, or as aggressive as Russia indicates. Nor is Russia the good guys. They aren’t.

If you want a clearer picture, ask Russian speaking Ukrainians from western Ukraine. They do NOT like Russia, and they know all too well how corrupt and violent the Russian government is.

I understand why the ‘Anti-Establishment Right’ are supporting Putin. But, the ‘Anti-Establishment Right’ are not motivated by Christian values. At best they are ‘Liberty Christians’, which is idolatry. They are so caught up in their antipathy against Washington that they forgot that killing people for political reasons is evil.

          Please. Let me repeat that:

Killing for political reasons is evil.

What is happening right now, in Ukraine, is murder. There can be no question about this.

As Christians, we are required to understand the difference between good and evil. We are to have discernment. We are to look to our Bible as our moral guide and not carefully packaged propaganda. Remember that there is a lot that they aren’t telling you.

We have good and faithful brothers and sisters in Christ who are suffering and dying in Ukraine. If nothing else, that should tell us about what is wrong with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Faithful Christians are being murdered by Russians.

          It matters.

I understand why many are ambivalent about this issue. They have been beguiled by politics. That needs to stop. This is a moral issue. Not a political one.

For a clearer reason for why Putin invaded Ukraine, go to my response to DRG’s comment, here:

          https://omegashock.com/2022/03/20/violence-and-famine/#comment-76241

I hope that helps clarify my point, Duane.

          omegashock.com

          • Wasn’t going to bother you again on this matter Bro John but noticed the first video link was the wrong one. The following is a 5 minute concise, well articulated video I think is very good,
            https://youtu.be/ymdIC5EJgQk
Btw, a friend I grew up with is married to a Russian Ukrainian from the western part and there is a big difference in the mentality of western and eastern Ukranians. Ukraine is a big country and all they would needed to avoid all the killing for the last 8+ years would be grant Donbass the independence they desired and all of that region could be a peaceful, prosperous country.
Never heard of Liberty Christians, if it’s idolatry sounds serious to me. Any chance you could find time to explain what they are?
            Shalom,
            Duane

          • Hi Duane Griffith,

Your original link was accurate. So again, I must repeat:

Unfortunately, none of that is why Putin invaded Ukraine. Nor is NATO as strong, or as aggressive as Russia indicates. Nor is Russia the good guys. They aren’t.

If you want a clearer picture, ask Russian speaking Ukrainians from western Ukraine. They do NOT like Russia, and they know all too well how corrupt and violent the Russian government is.”

Furthermore, it is unclear that the average resident of Donbass was ever given the opportunity to decide whether they wished to be in Russia, or Ukraine. It’s certainly clear that Russian speaking Ukrainians are unhappy with the Russian invasion.

This invasion of Ukraine by Russia is evil. Full stop. No question. No contest.

By the way, notice what both ‘separatist’ groups in Donbass called themselves:

            The Luhansk Peoples Republic

            The Donetsk Peoples Republic

That’s right. They’re communist. That doesn’t speak well of their intentions. They certainly aren’t interested in democracy.

As for ‘Liberty Christians’, I probably should have said ‘Patriot Christians’ or ‘Christian Patriots’. They also go by the term ‘Liberty Christian’ at times, but not everyone who is a ‘Liberty Christian’ is a part of the ‘Patriot Christian’ movement.

The Patriot Christian movement is idolatry. They worship the American flag AND then claim that they also worship God. Since God does not allow this, Patriot Christians cannot followers of God. Chuck Baldwin is an example of such idolatry. He calls himself “America’s Patriot Pastor”.

You can be a patriot or you can be a Christian. You can’t be both.

However, you CAN have patriotic feelings and support whatever good your country represents. But, that’s a far cry from being a ‘patriot’. I say again, and I will repeat this ad nauseum:

Killing someone for political reasons is murder in the eyes of God.

This means that Chuck Baldwin and his friends are preaching and advocating murder. You cannot do that and be a Christian.

            I hope that helps, Duane.

            Yours in Christ,

            John Little

      • With love and respect brother I think we are talking in circles.
Until I understand where the Fathers will is in this conflict I cannot condemn what is happening in Ukraine as evil.

I consider what I have read in the Gods word, how the Father has used evil and sinful men to bring judgement on others whom themselves have beget evil.
I consider how God has commanded His people Israel to slaughter entire cultures even down to the infants and animals – yet we call that righteous judgement.
I consider how God wiped out all life on the earth with a global flood, saving but a handful of people – we call that righteous judgement.
I consider how God brought judgement upon His people Israel when they turned away from Him – we call that righteous judgement.
I consider how our Fathers judgement will come upon this world and its peoples and billions will suffer and die. But that judgement is righteous.

From a human perspective I agree what is happening in Ukraine and in other places around the world is evil. None of our world leaders are righteous.

But if what is happening to Ukraine is Gods judgement, for whatever reason, then I cannot call what is happening there evil, even if Putin is Gods instrument for that judgement. God is good and there is no evil in Him, He is Love and He is Light.

If an Angel or the Lord Himself appeared before you and declared that what was happening in Ukraine was Gods righteous judgement would you still call it evil?

I believe the Lord is opening the seals of the scroll of judgement. The judgements are coming upon this world and its sin. I believe billions will die and suffer as God pours His wrath upon this earth and its sin.

I cannot call His judgements evil, no matter how many I see suffer and fall.
Regardless, Russia will not escape the Fathers judgement whether they be an instrument of His will or not.

The Lord bless you my friend.

        • Sorry Peter, but I am not talking in circles.

As Christians, we are to have discernment. This is a moral issue. A discernible moral issue. We are to understand what is right and wrong. Whatever justice there might be in the death and suffering of the Ukrainian people, does not change the evil of Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine. Killing someone for political reasons is a vile and evil thing. If you wish to understand what I am talking about, see my response to DRG’s comment, here:

          https://omegashock.com/2022/03/20/violence-and-famine/#comment-76241

I cannot overemphasize the seriousness of this situation. It is time for Christians to stop advocating for political violence. I have argued against this for years, but the ‘Liberty Christians’ have refused to understand. And yes, they have chosen to not understand what I and others have been telling them.

Judgment comes first in the house of God.

          Yours in Christ,

  2. More Armstrong: https://www.armstrongeconomics.com/world-news/war/nato-calls-up-hundreds-of-thousands-of-troops-ready-to-begin-wwiii/

Pay especial attention to the section near the end where he shows how old photos from completely unrelated events are being represented as currently happening in Ukraine. My point being, there is a verse somewhere in the bible that says do not believe anything that you hear, and only half of what you see!!!! And that is still good advice.

Which is not to say bad things are not happening there. There is no such thing as a Hallmark Channel war. It is always ugly. I get that. And there is no magic answer, except that everyone needs to get saved and then these things won’t happen. The worst problem is, most politicians are sociopathic and these days, stupid to boot. The common people just keep getting dragged and manipulated into these wars that are never for the causes represented.

I had really hoped Putin was not Gog but perhaps he is. I don’t believe he ever really wanted war, but they have been putting hooks in his nose. I feel sorry for Russia being demonized for so long, just because the neocons needed an enemy…. first because of communism, supposedly, but then when that excuse evaporated, for no reason at all. Time will tell ….

    • Hi DRG,

I like Martin Armstrong. His ability to predict social, national and financial trends is extremely valuable. His insights on history, and many of his experiences with powerful people are equally important.

Furthermore, I completely agree that there is a massive amount of propaganda being churned out on both sides. That’s why it’s important to avoid as much of that as possible. You cannot be completely unaffected by it, but if you can get first-hand accounts from people on the ground… that’s worth something.

My current analysis on what Putin has done, has nothing to do with the propaganda pointed out by Martin Armstrong. It has everything to do with my understanding of Russia’s strategic posture and security needs. It’s why I – and many others watching Russia – did not believe that Putin would invade Ukraine.

      He didn’t need to.

Therefore, his reasons for that invasion were something other than self-defense. If someone wants to claim that he went insane, fine. But, it’s a particularly evil form of insanity. ‘Cuz it’s murder.

What Putin did was murder. What Putin is now doing is mass murder.

Furthermore, it is possible that Putin will not only fail in his attempt to fight a ‘short victorious war’, but might even cause the collapse of Russia. Should that happen, millions of Russians will die – in addition to the more millions who will die in Africa and Asia from violence, starvation and disease.

Most important of all, we have brothers and sisters in Christ who are suffering right now, because of what Putin chose to do.

I understand Armstrong’s anti-establishment instincts. I share those. I despise the evil in Washington with a passion. But, this isn’t about that.

I hope that I’ve cleared up some of what I’m trying to say, DRG.

      Yours in Christ,

  3. John,

Your essay is amazing, as always. We’ll keep praying and keep our eyes open.

Your and my lives started similarly; B.S. degree in Physics from a Catholic college in Indiana in the mid-1980s. You have lived much of your adult life in Israel and Taiwan, in the shadow of China. I was in the Peace Corps in Togo, West Africa, but have lived in the US for the remainder of my adult life.

I bring this up because I do not understand 1) your strong, positive response to the propaganda that accompanied Zelensky to the US Congress; and 2) your anger over the invasion of Ukraine and towards Putin. To be sure, it is horrible. But it isn’t unprecedented. He felt he had to. And he has had a lighter hand than the US in our unwarranted invasions.

According to the UN, 726 civilians were killed in Ukraine between Feb 24 and March 15. This is a rate of 0.87 civilians per million (40 million population) per day.

15 blacks in Chicago were murdered between Feb 24 and March 9. There are 780,000 blacks in Chicago. So 1.5 blacks have been murdered, per million per day, in Chicago. In other words, ho-hum, everyday life in Chicago is killing blacks 70% faster than Russia is killing Ukranians. This is, in my mind, a bigger atrocity than what is happening in Ukraine.

In 1999 President Clinton needed to change the subject. So “we” (NATO, the good guys, right?) attacked Belgrade (Yugoslavia/Serbia). 2,500 civilians of a population of 1.24 million were killed in 78 days. NATO killed 26 civilians per million per day, a rate 30 times what is happening in Ukraine today.

Ten years before that, two coups couldn’t oust President Noriega of Panama, so President George HW Bush invaded. They got Noriega but killed 700 civilians from a population of 2.4 million in 41 days. That’s 7 civilian deaths per million per day, only eight times the rate that Russians are killing Ukranians during the invasion.

President Reagan had the heaviest hand, although 3/4 of the deaths happened when a mental health hospital was bombed. Yes, Grenada. 24 civilians, out of a population under 100,000 were, killed during the eight days of that invasion. Unfortunately, that is a toll of 30 civilians per million per day.

I have the data on a table I call “absolutely nothing,” as in: “War. What is it good for? Absolutely nothing.”

I am hoping that these are the comparables to the Invasion of Ukraine. I didn’t calculate the civilian death tolls of US invasions of Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iraq again, Syria, Libya, etc.; much longer time frame and more complicated counting. I probably could have counted the civilian deaths in either direction for the various attacks on Israel, since those were short-duration events.

There are no good guys in the invasion of Ukraine. It is horrible that Russia invaded. It is horrible that NATO made Ukraine’s military compatible with theirs and put Putin in a position where he felt that he his best choice was to invade now. I disagree that he is a madman. Russia is also building 1,000 churches a year, last that I heard. And it is the young people dragging their parents to church.

“Another thing.” The demolition of the US Dollar is something that we have brought upon ourselves. We took the sanctions from nothing to nuclear in a flash. No country in its right mind would trust the US, Canada, or Britain with their money (or gold).

On China: the US “won” the second world war by largely staying out of its way. I see the Chinese as doing that now. Russia, the West, and the US are destroying themselves and each other. I think that China will step in when real damage to Ukraine is imminent. Not only will the Chinese be the heroes and good guys, but they will protect the western terminus of the vast transportation and trade network that they are building. They will also get to call the shots, like the US did in Europe and Japan after WWII.

Lastly, the prospects for famine. In my opinion, this is the biggest tragedy. I can’t wrap my head around the devastation to come. It hasn’t happened on this scale in our lifetimes.

Back in the Mid-1990s, a group called the Worldwatch Institute took serious looks at the implications of climate change, water shortages, deforestation, and food supply. They did a study on China and concluded that adding pork to the Chinese diet would use half of the crops grown at that time on earth, as well as significant proportions of fertilizer and water. It’s taken 25 years for that challenge to play out, but it sounds like it is here.

Thanks for all that you do.

    Your brother in Christ,

    Jeff

    • Hi Jeff C-C,

Notre Dame? Their physics department had a great reputation. Well done. And, well done for serving the poor in Africa. You have seen the after effects of what war and corruption does to the poor. Just thinking about the suffering that is coming, makes me sick.

Everything that you have said about our own wars is completely true. And, I consider those to be mass murder as well. Millions have died in Iraq because of what we did, and Putin’s initial decision was on par with that. Furthermore, it is true that Putin attempted to minimize civilian casualties during the opening days of this war. He gets kudos for doing that. It was still murder, but less murder than it could have been. However that changed, days ago.

What Putin is now engaged in is the mass murder of civilians. Mass artillery strikes on cities is evil. And, I don’t even need to see the pictures or reports to know that he is doing this. He can’t win, if he doesn’t. He tried the easy way. Now, he’s using the ‘tried and true’ methods of mass bombardment – see Grozny and Aleppo.

The most important thing of all is why he decided to do this. This was NOT because of NATO. His efforts in Crimea and Donbass had already blocked Ukraine’s membership in NATO. Also, his claims about Ukrainian Nazis were deeply incorrect. There just aren’t that many of them. Nor were Russian speakers being persecuted as advertised. Yes, those Azov nazis need to die, but he could have taken them out in other ways.

This leaves us with cynical motives or insanity. Either way, it’s evil.

As for the Ukrainian video, yes I understand that it is being used to reinforce Ukraine’s position on this war. But, that does not make it untrue. That video is accurate in every way. That suffering is real, and I have friends who are in the middle of it.

Again, I have studied and lived the costs of war. And, I am now living in yet another flashpoint. The sheer amount of evil behind all of it is truly amazing. And, the people who suffer the most are always the civilians.

It is always evil to kill someone for political or financial reasons.

Brace for impact, Jeff. We are in for a very, very hard ride.

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

      • Yes, I went to Notre Dame. Physics was fun. Looking back, I have to laugh. The only way that I could stay at the school, the only way I felt sufficiently challenged and not going crazy, was to have about the most difficult major (Physics) and a difficult sport (Crew). Then, I could handle being there.

I loved being a physics major. I saw it as a theology degree; the study of God in the language of Mathematics. I had classical music running through my head all the time. Some of it [the physics] was so elegant: clean, beautiful, and powerful. Other times, it was incredibly difficult, complex, and not at all simple to follow or get through. I loved the paradoxes most of all. (Is light a wave or a particle? “Yes.”)

College, whether engineering (as my high school guidance counselor directed me) or physics, was just a platform for the pursuit of what was then called Alternate Energy. I had no interest in a career as a physicist, but it has formed an excellent basis for understanding energy, which is my life-long passion.

Specifically, the wise use of energy as a good steward, as we are directed.

The Peace Corps was a good experience. It, too, was excellent prep for renewable energy development. Working with a planning commission to get a project permitted is easy, compared to teaching a group of guys in a village how to raise fish in a pond as a crop, in French.

Living in a poor community under a dictatorship was interesting. There was a political prison in the next village over. Sometimes I’d see the men when working on our new fish pond over there. My favorite story about the dictator was that, of course, his birthday was a national holiday. When I was there, he woke up the next day and had a hangover. So he declared that to be a national holiday, too. Once when I was in town, he drove through. The streets got cleared, everyone went to the sidewalk, everyone cheered as he drove by, then they returned to whatever they were doing. It seemed very foreign at the time.

        • I aspired to be a Kein Bottle washer, myself. But, God had other plans. It sounds from your comment that you are involved in renewables? I desperately want renewables to work, but so far, there doesn’t seem to be much hope. And yes, those dictator birthdays. Classic. Great comment, Jeff. – JL

  4. I believe that Putin is trying to create some breathing room for Russia. One facet of this is to prevent an antagonistic military force on Russia’s border. Kyiv and Moscow are 854 km apart, according to Google Maps. That’s about half of the distance between Chicago and New York City.

Another facet is to make the US go away without nuking it. One aspect of this is all of our self-inflicted hits on the US dollar as global reserve currency. Another aspect of this could be exposing the US for the horrific things that we have done and instigated. Something along these lines surfaced recently. Who, exactly, is the war criminal here?

    https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/resurfaced-clip-biden-boasting-he-proposed-natos-78-day-airstrikes-belgrade-goes-viral

The US these days is like Israel during the time of the Judges. There is no bigger tragedy in the Bible than people doing what is right in their own eyes.

    • Hi Jeff C-C,

You brought up the most important point of all in your last sentence. But, I’ll get to that in a moment, ‘cuz I wanted to address that first sentence first.

Putin’s desire for ‘breathing space’ is the same as Hitler’s Lebensraum – or, ‘Living Space’. It is interesting that Germany made the same arguments that Russia is currently making. And, it was only after World War II that we figured out all that Hitler was really up to. (We’ll also probably figure out what Putin is really up to, later as well.)

By the way, I don’t consider Putin to be at the same level of evil as Hitler, but he shares some of Hitler’s motivations. Having said that, I believe that the US State Department shares just as many of Hitler’s motivations, if not more. The evil in Washington is shocking.

Here’s that last sentence you wrote that we must all remember as we look at this:

“There is no bigger tragedy in the Bible than people doing what is right in their own eyes.”

That’s why Putin invaded Ukraine. That’s why the US overthrew Ukraine’s government in 2014. That’s why the US government destroyed the rights and freedoms of the American people for the past century. It’s why Moscow destroyed the rights and freedoms of the Russians for the past 20 years. It’s why Beijing destroyed the rights and freedoms of the Chinese people.

There is real logic behind all of it. And, when you look into their thinking, you’ll often find yourself nodding in agreement. (I have. Really.) But, their logic is completely devoid of morality. It is the logic of ‘might makes right’. It’s the logic of what is right in our own eyes. So, we must retain our moral compass, if we wish to pierce the veil of propaganda that blocks our sight.

Our ‘moral compass’ (The Holy Spirit and the Bible) tells us what is right in God’s eyes. The vast majority of the arguments for and against this war are completely devoid of morality. That needs to stop.

Murder is a moral issue. As Christians, we must never condone it, lest we suffer God’s judgment.

Again, I want to commend you on this point:

Doing what is right in our own eyes brings horrific tragedy.

Thank you for reminding us of that, Jeff.

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

      • My bible reading these days are the daily readings of the catholic church. Today’s was pertinent.

Heavenly Father, I pray that President Putin would humble himself and be healed like Naaman. I pray that the salve of Jesus’ salvation would wash over him in a deeply personal, loving, and intimate way; that he could accept that salvation anew and differently than he ever has before. And that he could be strong enough to submit to You.

And Father, I pray that American leadership, European leadership, and all of the global leaders influenced by the World Economic Forum, would be like the Israelite leaders. I pray that they would be stunned by Your power. I pray, too, that they would recognize the worthiness of You and to fear You.

And I ask, too, that we, Your children, would be imbued with the Holy Spirit so that we can live as fearlessly as Jesus did; to speak the truth; and to simply walk through them. Send forth Your light and Your fidelity; they shall lead us on.
And bring us to Your holy mountain, to Your dwelling-place.

We give you thanks, our God.

        Reading I 2 Kgs 5:1-15ab
Naaman, the army commander of the king of Aram,
was highly esteemed and respected by his master,
for through him the LORD had brought victory to Aram.
But valiant as he was, the man was a leper.
Now the Arameans had captured in a raid on the land of Israel
a little girl, who became the servant of Naaman’s wife.
“If only my master would present himself to the prophet in Samaria,”
she said to her mistress, “he would cure him of his leprosy.”
Naaman went and told his lord
just what the slave girl from the land of Israel had said.
“Go,” said the king of Aram.
“I will send along a letter to the king of Israel.”
So Naaman set out, taking along ten silver talents,
six thousand gold pieces, and ten festal garments.
To the king of Israel he brought the letter, which read:
“With this letter I am sending my servant Naaman to you,
that you may cure him of his leprosy.”

        When he read the letter,
the king of Israel tore his garments and exclaimed:
“Am I a god with power over life and death,
that this man should send someone to me to be cured of leprosy?
Take note! You can see he is only looking for a quarrel with me!”
When Elisha, the man of God,
heard that the king of Israel had torn his garments,
he sent word to the king:
“Why have you torn your garments?
Let him come to me and find out
that there is a prophet in Israel.”

Naaman came with his horses and chariots
and stopped at the door of Elisha’s house.
The prophet sent him the message:
“Go and wash seven times in the Jordan,
and your flesh will heal, and you will be clean.”
But Naaman went away angry, saying,
“I thought that he would surely come out and stand there
to invoke the LORD his God,
and would move his hand over the spot,
        and thus cure the leprosy.
Are not the rivers of Damascus, the Abana and the Pharpar,
better than all the waters of Israel?
Could I not wash in them and be cleansed?”
With this, he turned about in anger and left.

But his servants came up and reasoned with him.
        “My father,” they said,
“if the prophet had told you to do something extraordinary,
would you not have done it?
All the more now, since he said to you,
‘Wash and be clean,’ should you do as he said.”
So Naaman went down and plunged into the Jordan seven times
at the word of the man of God.
His flesh became again like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.

He returned with his whole retinue to the man of God.
On his arrival he stood before him and said,
“Now I know that there is no God in all the earth,
        except in Israel.”

        Responsorial Psalm 42:2, 3; 43:3, 4

When shall I go and behold the face of God?

As the hind longs for the running waters,
so my soul longs for you, O God.
        R. Athirst is my soul for the living God.
When shall I go and behold the face of God?

Athirst is my soul for God, the living God.
When shall I go and behold the face of God?
        R. Athirst is my soul for the living God.
When shall I go and behold the face of God?

        Send forth your light and your fidelity;
        they shall lead me on
And bring me to your holy mountain,
        to your dwelling-place.
        R. Athirst is my soul for the living God.
When shall I go and behold the face of God?

Then will I go in to the altar of God,
        the God of my gladness and joy;
Then will I give you thanks upon the harp,
        O God, my God!
        R. Athirst is my soul for the living God.
When shall I go and behold the face of God?

        Gospel Lk 4:24-30
Jesus said to the people in the synagogue at Nazareth:
        “Amen, I say to you,
no prophet is accepted in his own native place.
Indeed, I tell you, there were many widows in Israel
        in the days of Elijah
when the sky was closed for three and a half years
and a severe famine spread over the entire land.
It was to none of these that Elijah was sent,
but only to a widow in Zarephath in the land of Sidon.
Again, there were many lepers in Israel
        during the time of Elisha the prophet;
yet not one of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian.”
When the people in the synagogue heard this,
they were all filled with fury.
They rose up, drove him out of the town,

    • Hi Carol,

I know Gary personally, and my family have been close friends of his for many years. He is worthy of your trust.

I also completely agree with his article. I believe that Putin was lured into invading Ukraine. There are people in Washington who wanted this, and it is exactly what they desired. It’s actually one more reason why I’m angry with what Putin did. He fell into a trap, and it was a really stupid thing to do.

      Evil, most of all.

By the way, the only disagreement that I have, is that Pike/Mazzini letter. To the best of my knowledge it was the imagination of William Guy Carr who was a notorious peddler of insanity. (Notice that his books didn’t have footnotes.)

Nuclear war is a very real possibility. It is something that we cannot discount. And, some of the preparations for such an event, are very much like prepping for other disasters – extra food, safe location, access to clean water. Buy extra of what you are already eating. Buy for others, as well.

He is especially right about food security. Famine is coming. It will be bad, and there will be violence and riots around the world.

Please especially note his connection with Ukrainian believers. I have different connections, but his are more solid. Our Ukrainian brothers and sisters need our help. And, I trust Gary implicitly.

Thank you for sharing that with us, Carol. I haven’t always been able to keep up with what Gary was writing, so I’m glad to see it.

      Yours in Christ,

    • Thanks for sharing! This is one of the best commentaries that I have seen on the whole Ukrainian situation, especially coming from a Christian perspective.

I am glad that he brought up the Olympics. I think that the same thing happened again, but it was way more subtle. Our family always watches the Winter Games. The Russians were not allowed to compete formally as Russia. But they sent a suite of excellent ice skaters. Their star was a 15 year old, who is a stunning skater. But she is only 15. And somehow, a drug test that she took 6 weeks earlier, came back negative a few days into the games and right after her first (amazing) competition.

It was pretty easy to be outraged and see it cut in black and white. “If you cheat, you are out” was a pretty reasonable reaction.

However, that is NOT how drug tests work. In my opinion, she likely got railroaded. That test result should have come back 5 weeks sooner. And the second sample should have been tested as well, given the nature of the result and the magnitude of the implications.

It gave Russia a huge black eye on the eve of their invasion of Ukraine from the world’s perspective. We (the west) came in to that invasion unsympathetic to Russia, those dirty cheaters! The skater’s coach came out of central casting as a villainess. And all of the poor Russian woman skaters were left twisting in the wind instead of reveling in their tremendous accomplishments.

  5. John,

It can’t be easy to engage in these deep conversations and to put out a new column every week. Iron sharpens iron. I am grateful that our God is giving you the strength, heart, and time for it.

    Your brother in Christ,

    Jeff

  6. OK, your arguments are well-reasoned ….. [unlike “I would like to buy an argument ….”] …so why DO you think Putin is doing this? Let’s put aside the possibility that he’s gone insane, I really don’t think he has. What possible motives do you see?

And, I also shudder at what is surely coming. Praying and trying to figure what is best to stock up on, and what to do about water. How to best use the garden space that I have. And praying always to be closer and closer to God and to hear His voice more clearly.

My worst fear is that these idiot US neocons will, in their arrogance and misplaced confidence, bring nuclear war down upon our heads – here in the US as well as elsewhere – because they think like bullies, they think they can push and intimidate to get their way, and sorry, whatever else he may be I believe Putin is a worthy opponent and no fool. Twice as smart as the idiot neocons. They are fools to provoke him.

    • Hi DRG,

Your comment encapsulates almost the entirety of the discussion.

The neocons are intent on expanding the American Imperium. There is no dirty trick that they will not use. The number of civilians they kill is meaningless to them. Suffering peasants is unimportant. They are demonic.

The problem is that they are not the only demonic entities playing on the world stage. Russia, China, India, Africa – they all have their share of psychopaths who seek power, no matter who suffers, even if it means the destruction of their own country.

This is literally a universal problem. In fact, any organization over about 100 to 150 people usually gets taken over by psychopaths. This includes churches, by the way. It’s a very big reason why large religious institutions should avoided. It’s also a core reason why ‘small government conservatives’ are right. If you wish for peace, freedom and prosperity, keep your government small and make morality a core demand for who you vote for.

Then, we have Russia. We forget that the concept of ‘Rule of Law’ is foreign to Asia. Even the most modern Asian countries, like Taiwan, don’t really believe in it. This has been especially true about Russia.

It was the Protestant Reformation that brought us the concept of ‘Rule of Law’ to the world. That’s a long story all by itself, but suffice it to say that it overthrew the ‘divine right of kings’ in Europe. Unfortunately, it didn’t spread to Russia fast enough to beat the Marxists (paid for by the Kaiser’s gold) who overthrew the Czars, plunging Russia into a long night of Communism.

When Communism collapsed, Russia still didn’t have a concept of the ‘Rule of Law’. It does not exist in Russian society. (Look up why Russia imports baseball bats.) So, it has always been natural for them to elect presidents-for-life. It’s why Putin has ruled for more than 20 years. And, he got his start in the gangster politics of Saint Petersburg. (Yes, gangsters. I kid you not.)

Putin reined in the gangsters that rose under Yeltsin, and substituted them with his own. (Look up siloviki) That has its own story that I don’t mind telling, but don’t have the time. All of Putin’s inner circle are corrupt. A great example is the head of the military – Sergei Shoigu. Classic corruption and the #1 reason why Russia is currently having trouble.

So, why did Putin invade Ukraine?

Literally domestic politics – with a sprinkling of other issues. It’s why countries have gone to war in the past, and this one is no different. And, you will notice the language that he uses when speaking to Russians – de-Nazification and the Russian Orthodox Church. That speaks to his power base – aging Russians who remember World War II and who are compatible with Orthodox ideology. Not theology. Ideology.

Furthermore, Putin has had a lot of success with ‘Short Victorious Wars’. And yes, that’s a thing. America does it all the time – especially when there is a political crisis at home. There’s nothing like a few good air strikes to divert attention from a juicy scandal. And, Putin used the ‘terrorist attacks’ in Moscow and the Chechen war to aid his political aspirations.

I also wonder about Belarus. Putin has worked hard to keep Lukashenko dependent on Russia. The same for Kazakhstan. And, they have a saying in China – kill a chicken to scare the monkey (殺雞儆猴). Engaging in a Short Victorious War in Ukraine, would intimidate Belarus and the ‘Stans in central Asia.

Notice also when Putin chose to go to war: September/October. Some Russia watchers saw the Battalion Tactical Groups move out of their bases across Russia in December, but I didn’t – which is why I was surprised at this invasion. That was 75% of Russia’s combat-ready forces. And, I completely missed it.

When did the Afghan debacle happen?

      August 2021.

It demonstrated NATO weakness, and a big political opportunity. Also, Europe was completely and utterly dependent upon Russian energy, so he calculated that any blow-back would be temporary. He was very nearly right.

It should be clear that Putin miscalculated. He thought that he could get Ukraine cheaply. A few days of war. Rattle the Ukrainian government. Get political concessions. Go home. Victory parade.

But, the Russian military had not been maintaining its equipment, and their training was technical and not tactical. This allowed well-trained and motivated Ukrainians to ambush Russian columns and destroy billions of dollars of equipment. It was a disaster. An avoidable disaster.

So, Russia has changed tactics and gone back to its tried and true methods of bombing cities flat – just like Grozny. And right now, we are hearing reports of Belarus joining Russia in its invasion of Ukraine. This will be a brutal massacre of the Ukrainian people.

And, it’s all about politics. It always is.

The best that you can do is to keep praying. Stock up on what you normally eat. Make friends with a farmer who has either a well with a hand pump – or free standing water. God provides, and He doesn’t expect more than our best. My greatest concern right now is the suffering in Ukraine and what’s coming in the Third World.

I hope that helped, DRG. I’m sure that I missed something, so don’t hesitate to point out anything that didn’t make sense. (And yeah, this was longer than I expected.)

  7. Hi John,
I have just two remarks (in the middle of all immoral and evil things going on):
    1. I’m repeating myself, but, still, no one in “information space” (whatever it is) pays attention, that, from Russian side, it is not a war against Ukraine. They are fighting “combined West”. And, all that sanctions and trade disruptions are legitimate element of this war. There is an economic term, hardly used, because it can’t be used to describe any big modern economy. Except, possibly, one. Russia. Here it is:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autarky
To take action on a strategic scale, you must believe you can win. Maybe, Russia knows, how fragile the systems of the West are.
    2. Two days ago I’ve read something from the Polish internet, and it was… thought provoking. It was in Polish, with a lot of screenshots, so I gave up translating it. But, surprisingly, someone did. Take a look at the dates, those are headlines from Poland in 1939. Compared with 2022. As the author says, it’s an “experiment”, but you’ll be amazed, I think…

    • Hi Chris,

That last link was seriously depressing. (And, I remember that you talked about it before.) This is undoubtedly why NATO is screaming for resupply:

Weapons for Ukraine’s Fight Against Russia Flow Through Small Polish Border Towns
U.S. and allies race to buy, deliver more arms as Kyiv warns it is running low
      https://www.wsj.com/articles/weapons-for-ukraines-fight-against-russia-flow-through-small-polish-border-towns-11648066417?st=a3pfl3isvt8aqkf&reflink=share_mobilewebshare

      ——————–

      ——————–

      ——————–

Basically, the US and NATO were caught unprepared, when their ‘sacrificial goat’ turned out to have teeth and a little too much chutzpa.

So, the question remains… can Ukraine hold out?

      What happens if they do?

Here’s an interesting article from a Chinese perspective, from a few weeks ago:

Possible Outcomes of the Russo-Ukrainian War and China’s Choice
      https://uscnpm.org/2022/03/12/hu-wei-russia-ukraine-war-china-choice/

Also, if Belarus increases their support of Russia in this invasion, I doubt that Ukraine can survive. Once Ukraine is captured, the next question would be about Suwalki Gap.

However, if Ukraine doesn’t fall, Putin is toast. And, he might be willing to use nukes to keep from being destroyed. He has always used the tactic of ‘escalate to deescalate’. Using tactical nukes would be one way to do it. And, it could go down from there.

Then, when Fall arrives, we’ll have hunger in places that cannot afford it.

And, since you mentioned Autarky, can Russia obtain everything that it needs domestically and from Turkey, India, Western Asia and China?

      An interesting question.

And, behind all that, is the question of where this will lead, in terms of the rise of Gog and Magog.

We have a bad year ahead. May we all be fine, when it’s over.

May the Lord bless you, Chris!

      Yours in Christ,
