The Stories That Send Us To War

I was not expecting Russia to invade Ukraine like this, but I had not been listening to the stories that the Russians were telling each other. Nor did I hear what Kremlin advisors were telling Putin.

These stories are what send us to war. Every war that America has ever fought, started with a story, and too many of them had little connection with reality. Look closely at other wars, and you’ll see that they too started with a story.

Worse, we have taken up story telling in our churches, without checking whether they are true.

The Stories That Send Us To War

For 15 years, I was an eye witness to stories that kill. I was an alien, sitting between two peoples that had stories that confirmed a belief that their way was right, and that those who disagreed were wrong. My allegiance was to one set of stories, but as an outsider looking in, I had a clearer idea of where the stories came from and why they were being told. And, everyone who suffered injury and death was a victim of a story.

I can’t tell you how many times I heard a story and wanted to ask how much was truth, and persuade them to reject the part that was lie. But, convincing people to give up cherished fantasies and imaginations rarely ever works. That hasn’t stopped me from trying, so call me Sisyphus if you want.

Here in Taiwan, I am yet again an alien listening to the stories that people tell themselves and seeing the suffering and death that will come, if the stories don’t change. Unfortunately, history shows that the stories don’t change unless they washed away by terrible circumstances.

Andy Andrews wrote a great book on this. It’s called:

How Do You Kill 11 Million People?: Why the Truth Matters More Than You Think.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/0849948355/

How did Hitler kill so many people?

He lied to them.

He told them a story.

Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot killed even more millions, and they too did it with stories. The last generals of Imperial Japan, were living and telling their own story, when they attacked Pearl Harbor. Benito Mussolini had a story when he allied himself with Hitler and invaded North Africa and Greece.

Three percent of the world’s population died in World War II, all because of stories.

So, as we watch Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, listen to the stories. You can hear the Russian story here:

Putin announces ‘special operation’ in Donbass | SPECIAL COVERAGE

That’s RT – Russia Today. It’s complete propaganda. In fact, it’s pretty much the CNN of Russia. The only difference is that RT might be less divorced from reality than CNN. Maybe.

How much of what they say there is true?

What are they leaving out?

How selective are they being?

There are so many ways to lie with a video camera and a good microphone, and I’ve probably seen just about all of those ways, during my time in Jerusalem. And, as a writer, I understand how the words that you choose can change what the story means.

Remember also that everyone telling you a story has a religion. And, I define ‘religion’ as any thought or idea that is impenetrable by fact or logic. Every talking head on TV. Every writer on the Internet. They all have a religion, including me. And, every word that they write or say is grounded in their ‘faith’.

Vlad ‘The Bad’ Putin

So what were the stories being told to Vlad ‘The Bad’ Putin?

He was born in 1952, in Leningrad, in the aftermath and rubble of World War II. He grew up on the stories of the price Russia paid, and the centuries of invasion that Mother Russia suffered at the hands of… well …everyone. Oh, and he’s a lawyer.

No one ever talks about Putin going to law school and being a lawyer. His career in the KGB was in the back office, in the legal section. But, since that goes against the stories that people like to tell about Vlad The Bad, you won’t hear that very often.

So, the story of being vulnerable to invasion, is writ large in Putin’s mind, and in the minds of every one of his advisers. And when the US State Department threatened Putin with what he was expecting, the result should have been obvious.

In fact, if I had seen this tweet when it was posted in December, I might have been more accurate in predicting Russia’s invasion:

That’s the first in an almost 40 tweet post in Twitter, and the most important statement is this:

75% of Russia’s total battalion tactical groups have been moved.

That was December, and that just cannot be a training operation. That’s prelude for war. And no, I had not been paying attention to that.

Victoria Nuland

So, what was the ultimate cause of this mobilization and then attack?

Well, not a ‘what’, but a ‘who’. And, she’s someone that I mentioned last week:

Victoria Nuland

I heard her name mentioned in a video today – one that linked her to to the invasion of Iraq. I had not realized that she was connected to that disaster, too. So, I went looking and found this:

From 2000 to 2003, Nuland was US permanent representative to NATO as the Bush administration attacked then invaded Afghanistan. The Afghan government offered to work with the US to remove Al Qaeda, but this was rejected. After Al Qaeda was defeated, the US could have left Afghanistan but instead stayed, established semi-permanent bases, split the country, and is still fighting there two decades later.

From 2003 to 2005 Nuland was principal foreign policy advisor to Vice President Dick Cheney who “helped plan and manage the war that toppled Saddam Hussein, including making Bush administration’s case for preemptive military actions based on Iraq’s alleged weapons of mass destruction.” The foreign policy establishment, with Nuland on the far right, believed that removing Saddam Hussein and installing a US “ally” would be simple.

 – Rick Sterling, Why Victoria Nuland Is Dangerous and Should Not Be Confirmed

So, not only was she responsible for the takeover of Ukraine by the United States in 2014, but she was also one of the chief architects of the invasion of Iraq in 2003. You can also bet that she was involved in pushing the country of Georgia into the ill-fated Russo-Georgian War of 2008. And, when she was confirmed as Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, in 2021, Putin would have been well aware of what that meant.

An attack on Russia.

And yes, Victoria Nuland is the kind of person who would not mind if millions of Ukrainians died to further her career. She’s that kind of person, and she loves ‘The Great Game’.

Perfect Timing And A Difference

At the same time, Putin would have understood that Russia was in a perfect position to push NATO back and create a buffer zone that would give Russian armed forces time to react should an invasion occur. And, Putin’s ‘terms of surrender’ to Ukraine reflect that intention.

Also, notice that this invasion did not include a tactic that Russia is well known for:

Massive aerial and artillery bombardment.

During the first and second Chechen wars, the city of Grozny was flattened. And, if this attack on Ukraine was a straight up conquest, you would have expected exactly this kind of strategy. But, they didn’t do that.

Unfortunately, we won’t know the truth of what is happening for a very long time. The stories that you and I are hearing are almost complete propaganda. So, be cynical with the news that you are getting. Even with what I’m telling you.

China’s Planned Invasion Of Taiwan

However, the story of the Ukraine invasion has added fuel to another story:

China’s invasion of Taiwan

All the armchair generals and self-proclaimed experts have been excitedly pronouncing doom for me and my neighbors. The glee with which they speak is horrifying. They seem unable to care that 23 million civilians here will suffer terribly or die from any invasion by China. We are packed so tightly on this island that it’s hard to believe how anyone could escape the fighting.

It’s one thing to hear these demonic pronouncements from China. But, to hear English speakers’ excitement over this prospect is nauseating. And, if Russia succeeds in her objectives in Ukraine, the chance of a Taiwan invasion will be much higher.

The West is showing it’s weakness, and the wolves have noticed. The only question is whether the Chinese and the other ‘bad actors’ are ready to capitalize on this opportunity. You can bet that I will be paying attention.

Revelation Six

Ultimately, there’s very little that you and I can do, except ask for God’s help and to help others understand what’s coming. If these are the Last Days – and I truly believe that they are – then there’s no way that we anyone was going to stop the ride of the White and Red horses of Revelation Six. They may have begun their ride already, especially since I can hear the hoof beat of the Black Horse.

Suffering, violence and scarcity are coming for all of us. No one will be unaffected. And then, it will get worse. And, the stories that Christians are telling each other keep us from understanding what’s coming.

We have built seminaries and hired pastors from them, making sure that they tell us stories that we like to hear:

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;

 – 2 Timothy 4:3 (NKJV)

That needs to stop, and I believe that proving When Gog Comes might help wake up sleepy Christians. Hopefully, that will become one of the most hated books on eschatology ever written. Hatred was not my goal when I wrote it, but I know that painful truth is never accepted until it is hated first. And, it’s also why I refuse to make any profit whatsoever from it. It will always be free, or sold at cost when necessary.

We’ll never stop believing stories. It’s a part of how we understand and remember, but we can work harder to make sure that the stories that we believe are true.

When Gog Comes

I truly hope that you’ll be ready for this

A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.Proverbs 22:3

  1. Hi John,
“Also, notice that this invasion did not include a tactic that Russia is well known for:”
    -Exactly.
It looks like Russian planners decided to check if the Ukrainian government collapses without wholesale slaughter and destruction (including urban warfare). It’s possible, but not guaranteed. We’ll see within few days, if Ukraine holds, we may see dramatic change in tactics, and a lot more death.
I also noticed something which gave me a lot of sinister thoughts. Russia engaged roughly 30% of the forces they have in place. And, watching a lot of movies, pictures I see one thing, and I really have bad feelings about it. With obvious exception of (very few) VDV units, Su-35 fighters responsible for air domination, and a number of Ka-52 helicopters, all the units in the field, and their equipment are second-tier. I did not see a single Su-34 advanced bomber, not a single newest T-90 tank (even the T-72B3M version is a rarity). Heavy bombers are somewhere else. EW is used moderately (at max), there is still radio communication, TV, GPS in Ukraine.
I hate to write it, my conclusion is that the core of the Russian army is prepared, but still waits. Probably for different, “first-tier”, war. Nobody in the West dares to name it, it is, you know, “unthinkable”. But we are one step away from economic and political decisions specifically declared by Russia as “acts of war”.
May the Lord save us all.
    Yours in Christ
    Chris

    • Hi Chris,

When you hold your best, most powerful units in reserve, it says something. Should Russian units be forced to surround and lay siege on Kyiv, the more casualties these second tier units will suffer losses – via guerilla tactics that use man-portable anti-tank weapons.

I was hoping that Russia would choose asymmetric warfare. Instead, they chose something in between that and the Russo-Georgian War of 2008.

While I despise what Putin has chosen to do, I do respect why and how he did it. Unfortunately, it still means killing lots of Russian soldiers who love their families and don’t really want this war, either.

I hate this with every fiber of my being. Those who don’t, need to be in jail.

God bless you, Chris. God will protect all of us, until it’s time to go home.

      Yours in Christ,

    • Good point Chris

I’m glad I’m not the only one that noticed that. I see lots of pictures of blown up ‘Russian’ tanks – actually Ukrainian T-64’s but no evidence of serious Russian hardware. Then there is the pre-war claims of 150-190k troops on Ukraine’s border… but only a reportedly 60k actually in Ukraine. Russia is being very restrained in its tactics, and does seem to be honouring its pledge to keep civilian casualties to a minimum. I can’t help but wonder at how frustrated the Western media must feel without their flashy Gulf War briefings, video of smart bombs smashing targets and reports of smashed enemy formations. The Russians play a very different strategy, no military briefings and few press releases. But it speaks volumes that Russia’s ‘second tier’ forces are having so much success in Ukraine so quickly despite the Western media hyping up claims of ‘huge losses’ on the Russian side.

        • Interesting comparison Chris given part of Western Ukraine was Polish territory pre World War 2. I have the impression that Lviv still retains a strong Polish heritage and links to Poland. Do you think Poland may take advantage and seek its return to Poland in exchange for European aid or similar argument? Thus far Russia’s strikes have, as far as i can determine, been almost exclusive to the Eastern half of Ukraine where the majority of Ukrainian military forces are concentrated.

I also further question the Western narratives of Ukrainian resistance when Zelensky appeals for a no fly zone (and Russia claims air superiority) and Western media report a 27km long Russian column moving through Ukrainian territory. How does a column that big move through enemy territory apparently unharrassed with such fierce resistance?

Is this why Ukrainian officials met Russian officials for talks with no pre conditions? Not something you do, to bring it back to your 1939 comparison, when your being hyped up as ‘resisting for months’. Perhaps something you do when 50,000 of your best troops are about to be cut off by Russian pincer attacks in Eastern Ukraine….

          • The whole concept of national borders is now under threat. Russia has declared war on the whole idea of sovereignty. The result will be the law of the jungle. As for that column of trucks… good question. It’s big fat target, and no one is shooting it. May God protect our brothers and sisters. Good questions, Peter. – JL

          • Hi John, hi Peter,
yes, there is substantial Polish heritage in Western Ukraine, enough to say that my grandfather lived in Lviv, and my father was born there (before they were relocated to western Poland by NKVD in 1945, one piece of baggage per person allowed). But I do pray and hope nobody steps in with the stupid idea of incorporating any part of Ukraine into Poland. John is right, in Europe it would be the first step into the jungle…
I shared a map of 1939 campaign to suggest that the comparison of forces is roughly similar, and, back then, after 3-6 days the frontline looked as if Poland still holds. In reality, in the background, there was rapid decomposition of supply lines, command structure and logistics. And two weeks later it was all over. I’m not certain it’s the case now (everybody lies) but it is highly possible.
            Yours in Christ
            Chris

          • Hi Chris,

Someone on Twitter made an excellent point about ‘echelons’ in an interesting Twitter thread, here:

            https://twitter.com/kamilkazani/status/1497993363076915204

Hitler had three. Russia has one.

Also, Serdyukov was ousted in 2012 and replaced by Shoygu. Many of the reforms implemented by Serdyukov were rolled back by Shoygu, bringing corruption and mismanagement back into the Russian army. I knew about Serdyukov’s modernization, but missed what Shoygu did to undermine all that.

If Russia loses in Ukraine, it will be precisely due to Shoygu’s corruption.

I hate all of this with a passion, and am so sorry that it’s happening. May God protect His people and give them comfort in the midst of their suffering.

            God help us all.

Thanks, Chris. Excellent and thought provoking as always.

            Yours in Christ,

            John Little
            omegashock.com

          • Hi John,
great thread, thanks (also didn’t know those details about Shoygu)! I must say I have no idea how the dynamics of this conflict will evolve. The Russians clearly restricted themselves (one echelon) and it may work (actually, in eastern Ukraine it works at some places, and it doesn’t at others). They try (when they can) to be/play “regime changers”, not “invaders”. And I know why, I had conversations with numerous Ukrainians (~3 million of them are in Poland) – NONE of them said a single good word about their current government to me (about ANY government after 1991 to be exact). Instead, what they said does not even qualify for citation on your webpage (do not ask me to translate this from Polish, Ukrainian or Russian). On the other hand, western Ukraine is very, very anti-Russian, and, voila, there is no ground operation there, so far. So, there is some strange balance between total war and “special operation” going on. Have no idea how it ends. I admit, my 1939 analogy was not exact, that’s clearly different type of war. I’m afraid it tends to end up in more death and suffering, and I hate it. But my worry is also that it all has serious global consequences, and those will be disastrous, we know it…
            Yes, God help us all!
            Yours in Christ
            Chris

  2. Good morning John

I must confess I didn’t think Ukraine would get this far either. I had hoped Ukraine wouldn’t be as stupid as Georgia in 2008 and force Russia to invade and destroy their military. Sadly the lives of many people will be lost in the power games of the Elites.

But we must always remember, nothing happens outside of Gods plan. We may not understand that plan, or yet see what this will result in, but we must trust in Him.

I totally agree with your assessment of the media. I wrote the following in response to a doctor whom I work with who has taken to trolling my views of late.
“You have to remember, the media is not there to communicate the truth. They don’t give a toss about the truth. They are there to sell sensationalism, sensationalism generates views and views generate income. Most people these days don’t even bother to read the article, they just glance at the headlines – which often poorly relate to the content of the article – and form an opinion based on that. It’s emotional manipulation to generate a public consensus through the use of language.”
I have found RT to be more accurate and objective than the Western legacy media over the last decade or so. But all media should be viewed with a level of distrust, even the independents are often biased towards their political views.
    https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/russia-ukraine-war-videos-misinformation-middle-east?fbclid=IwAR2fviZLDzdoRh4ApCrqhe_R4jzuIy7TlNXTshhz3ZzohE4dOgkflxoz2BM

Even the legacy media though is starting to question America’s power… and where this goes next. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-02-27/war-on-ukraine-where-did-americas-great-power-go/100859774

What I found interesting though, was the US presented a resolution to the UN. China abstained, which they always do. But India and the UAE also abstained, they refused to back America’s position. Israel refused to support the resolution to remain neutral with all players and was reportedly asked by Ukraine to host direct talks between Russia and Ukraine.

I agree with you that Russia is being very restrained here, they haven’t brought in the kind of firepower that one would expect in a full blown war, at least yet. We can only hope that the Ukrainians realise the depth of their position and sue for peace. I cannot see how the Ukraine survives intact without the West declaring war with Russia – something I see no evidence of in the Bible, nor can I see God allowing nuclear war to destroy humanity. Russia will be the clear winner here…. The biggest casualty will be the world economy as we truly realise the extent of the global energy crisis.

The world will never be the same again.
The Lord keep you all safe in Taiwan, China is watching….

    • Hi Peter Makin,

Every time someone mentions the press, I immediately want to share my favorite quote on journalism from 1883:

There is no such a thing in America as an independent press, unless it is out in country towns. You are all slaves. You know it, and I know it. There is not one of you who dares to express an honest opinion. If you expressed it, you would know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid $150 for keeping honest opinions out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for doing similar things. If I should allow honest opinions to be printed in one issue of my paper, I would be like Othello before twenty-four hours: my occupation would be gone. The man who would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be out on the street hunting for another job. The business of a New York journalist is to distort the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to villify, to fawn at the feet of Mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread, or for what is about the same — his salary. You know this, and I know it; and what foolery to be toasting an “Independent Press”! We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are jumping-jacks. They pull the string and we dance. Our time, our talents, our lives, our possibilities, are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes.

      – John Swinton, 1883

As always, a great comment, Peter. God is indeed in control!

  3. John, my thoughts went straight to you & your wife & the country you have made your home in when I heard that Putin had actually invaded Ukraine because I instantly saw Xi Jingpin watching Putin from the sidelines to see what the reaction of the world was going to be & whether now was the time to invade Taiwan whilst all eyes were on Ukraine, so have been praying that this won’t happen.

You may have read about China attacking an Australian plane with a laser beam recently up on the northern end of my homeland & this to me was Xi flexing his muscles wanting to see the reaction of the US because there is no way we here have the defenses to protect ourselves from China. We are like Taiwan, 25 million sitting ducks only our homeland is larger than yours but just as easily invaded should Xi have it in his mind to do so & put a puppet PM in control.

However, I had been praying that the Lord would put a stop to the WEF, the Gates foundation & the rest of the lunatic asylum who are trying to bring down our monetary system & bring in their one world plan for trans humanism because I saw it as Klaus trying to play god & changing Scripture & so I looked again at Matthew 24: 6 – 8 & this is the Lord’s script for the world, so I prayed, “Your Will be done on this earth as it is in heaven.”

A few days later when I was listening to the grand jury, https;//www.grand-jury.net/ I heard a lady mention that she liked to listen to Martin Armstrong & that his computer was predicting that we would soon be going into war & suffering & hardship for possibly the next decade & I saw that as God’s answer to Klaus Swab & his agenda but I didn’t realise that Ukraine was going to be the first to suffer, I actually expected it to come from Turkey or the middle east somewhere like Iran or the other crazies that have been collecting drones & threatening to set them loose.

However, I feel calm & that the Lord knows what is happening & will counterattack those who seek to change the times & the seasons that He has put in place. We just have to continue to put our trust in Our Mighty God & Avenger of His faithful ones who are quietly reading His Word, obeying His commands & praying for His Will to be done on this earth daily whilst going about the business that Christ commissioned us to do before He went home to the Father. Blessings in Jesus my brother in the Lord

    • Amen, and God bless you, Louise! Yes, God knows exactly what He is doing and is creating the conditions for His final victory. And, He feels our suffering and would never leave us without help and comfort. May we all win the race that is set before us, holding close to our Lord and Savior. – JL

  4. Yee Haw. I didn’t comment last week because it looked like invasion had already started by the time I caught up with Omegashock. Yup they did invade. Today we have Trump Putin rhetoric of bombing bioweapons labs. While trump is caught praising ukraines latest puppet. It is like the truth is fading fast. Figuring out if a good guy exists may take years, and division is spreading. The founders said we should mind our own business. That won’t deplete any weapons stockpiles. Meanwhile prices are rising like mercury in a house fire, and trucks want to squeeze DC, ag products are being refused export and the band plays on. Methinks the fatlady is about to sing “Nearer my GOD to thee”!!!

    • It is rare that I see a more appropriate ‘Yee Haw’. And, I like your twist on the ‘Fat Lady’. I never did like Wagner. As for minding our own business… yes. Although, if we could actually be a benign country that helps the helpless, that would be good, too. But, we aren’t. Thank you, MM! – JL

  5. Although we all know and agree that God is in control of world events, and nothing catches Him by surprise, He knows the beginning to the end of every global conflict. John said he believes we are in the last days, and rightly so. I believe we can petition the throne room for God to delay current events as they relate to the end times to ease human suffering and death and to see more people get saved before it’s too late. But as believers, we must recognize and understand that the Scriptures must be fulfilled to the tee, before Jesus returns to end all suffering and death and establishes His kingdom where righteousness and holiness will be the order of the day. Those of us who have been granted the privilege to be alive in such days we are living, should be in intercession and prayer for those who are not ready to meet the Lord, near and afar, and yet at the same time understand that we are living in perilous times, and that our spiritual house must be in order. Last but not least, some survival and basic physical needs should be kept on hand for an emergency when basic items that we go to the store for are no longer available. Stay safe and close to Jesus as the end times progress. Yours in Christ, Mike

    • Yes, we must pray and prepare and warn others. Earnestly. However, a delay in the coming of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Revelation 6) would actually mean more suffering and death. If I am correct about the forces driving the Black Horse, delaying his ride would make for an even greater disaster. Thank you, Mike.

  6. Wasn’t nearer my GOD to thee what the band on the Titanic played?? I would not put our surrender papers already being drawn up past the latest administration. The madness of politics.

  7. Oh dear. Please don’t be so hard on Putin and Russia. I’ve been following Armstrong closely as always, both public and private blogs, and while I am no expert on politics or military strategy I do trust Armstrong. I think he gives the most trustworthy secular human advice possible, and lately he has often mentioned prayer in his posts. So maybe there is even more guiding him but who knows.

I highly recommend going to Armstrong’s public blog and reading the past couple weeks of posts on Ukraine et al. He lays out the real issues from the ground up and the various twists and spins they incur on the way up to what is publicly visible. As well as any human source can.

The Ukrainian people don’t want war, their incompetent buffoon (Armstrong’s word) of a former comedian president is gambling with their lives to get more money and profit for himself; he wants gas reserves, and there are a lot of those in Crimea which is why he built a concrete dam to cut off the water supply to Crimea. Pure spite because he didn’t get something he wanted. Putin is the only intelligent sane leader on the scene and he is continually pushed and threatened by these incompetent, greed-blinded demonic-inspired idiots in league with Schwab. In addition to cementing off the water supply to Crimea, Zelensky has made it illegal to speak Russian in the far-east sections that are 90% Russian. He promotes as a national hero a terrorist who brags that he feeds his pet wolf the bones of Russian-speaking children. Probably an ugly joke but you get the idea. All this coming from Armstrong. Zelensky has made life unbearable for the Russians in the Russian-majority provinces and at the same time not allowed them to vote on what they want to do. (No surprise there, none of us get to have a valid vote anymore ….)

Armstrong has said for years how Schwab wants to eliminate the US as a superpower and bring it under the control of the NWO, and to do that they had to get Trump out of the way. Which they did. They also think they’re going to force Russia and China to submit to this agenda of a one-world government under Schwab; Putin will not stand for that, and while they pull their puppet strings in diverse places they are too stupid to realize they are provoking a superpower far more intelligent and strategic than they are. In order for NATO to exist, there must be a demonized Russia. So they keep propagandizing and demonizing, and think of this from Putin’s perspective – he is backed up against the wall and it is up to him to defend his motherland from ruin. He would have been happy with a diplomatic solution – he just wanted Ukraine to remain a buffer zone and not join NATO, because all of NATO was threatening Russia and moving closer and closer, while pretending that its objective was defense. But the other side, Biden et al, rejected everything out of hand which means a diplomatic solution is impossible. Armstrong said they were BEGGING Putin to invade to divert attention from their scamdemic failure and government financial collapse. So they poked the bear until there was nothing left for it to do – but even then, I have to respect Putin for keeping a cool head and conducting war as a gentleman. He has said he could take out the US in about 30 minutes, I believe it, and do not understand why he hasn’t done it already, but that is the cool head at work. Ukraine he could squash like a bug but he doesn’t want to. His people are there. He does not want wholesale slaughter. Nor does he want to take over the entire world as does Schwab et al.

Armstrong has observed that the American view does not seem to understand anything strategic, the only method they understand is their own of just bombing a target (it doesn’t even have to be an actual enemy) into oblivion. If they don’t see this happening, they think the advancing party is losing. Idiots. Putin wants to preserve the infrastructure, the fertile fields, the people. I pray for him.

    • Hi DRG,

      Great points.

It’s pretty much evil all around. Putin. Zelensky. Victoria Nuland. NATO. The Military Industrial Complex. Greed and lust for power is driving all of this. I’d had hopes that Putin was a more rational player and that he would take a more subtle approach. He could have done that, but he wanted something bigger.

I had not known about the gas fields in Ukraine and in the Black Sea. Blocking their development, and then later taking control of them, is money in his pocket and in the pockets of his supporters.

It is evil on all sides, and now there will be famine and unrest across Africa and the Middle East and into Asia. And, if Putin succeeds, Taiwan falls.

As bad as things are in Ukraine, it will be ten times worse in Taiwan. China will have far less interest in sparing civilians when the bomb Taiwan flat and take over what’s left. I wish that was hyperbole, but China will not allow what it terms ‘trouble makers’ to survive and spread unrest inside China. China has made its intentions very clear.

I am horrified by what’s coming.

Thanks for adding that perspective, DRG. That was valuable input.

      Yours in Christ,

      • Curious, what do you think would have been the best thing for Putin to do?

Also, I read later on Armstrong that Kamala Harris told Ukraine they should join NATO – a direct violation of some agreement whose name escapes me, but the purpose of which was that Ukraine should remain neutral as a buffer between NATO and Russia; and that this was a no-brainer that it would compel Putin to do something, hopefully invade. You have seen the memes about nominating Putin for the Nobel prize in medicine for eradicating covid in 48 hours. Armstrong said this (telling them to join NATO) was either grossly stupid or deliberate.

        • I was expecting a form of asymmetric warfare, keeping Ukraine sufficiently destabilized that it would forever be outside NATO. Lots of people had similar expectations. So, something must have changed in the background. The decision to go to war was made months ago, and we’re not really sure why. All of this is both grossly stupid AND grossly deliberate. More on that in a bit. – JL
