Truth? We Don’t Care About TRUTH [EDIT OUT LUKE 21:36]

In just a few days, we will begin to discover the decision that Americans have made about who will be the next rulers of America and the American Imperium. Unfortunately, most Americans don’t seem to care about how evil these rulers are. This has been true for a very long time, but now it has become stunningly obvious.

Worse, the average Christian has chosen a leadership that loves money, more than the truth. I discovered an element of this just recently, and it is an abomination.

Because we no longer care about the truth…

…judgment is our destiny.

The Top Seventeen Videos for October 31st, 2020

(I was not feeling well over the past few days, so was not able to write. Thankfully, I am able to write now.)

I have never been a fan of Donald Trump. I am not a fan of ‘The Donald’ even now. But, I approve of some of the things that he has done.

He moved the US Embassy to Jerusalem, recognizing Israel’s ownership of that city. Having personally witnessed president after president choose to not recognize Israel’s sovereignty over Jerusalem was a vile and evil thing. The fact that Trump made it happen, over the objections of the American Deep State, means a lot.

‘The Donald’ also allowed Taiwan to defend herself. Every president since Jimmy Carter tied Taiwan’s hands, and even forcibly restrained her from providing for her own defense against a level of evil that is beyond amazing. And, Jimmy Carter and the other Democrats were the worst of all. Hopefully, I will be able to tell some of the stories of the evil that the Democrats have done to Taiwan. If China succeeds in their desire to murder the Taiwanese, the Democrats will be to blame – along with those Republicans who stood by and just watched.

Donald Trump also stopped American diplomats from marching in the ‘gay parade’ that happened every year in Taipei. It was too late. The damage had already been done, but he put a stop to it going any further. And yes, it was American influence and coercion – along with others – that forced Taiwan to become the first country in East Asia to officially allow gay marriage. The Taiwanese were completely and utterly against it, but America and The West forced it through.

So, Trump has done a lot of good. But, the most important thing that he’s done, is – by his very presence – expose the corruption of the average American and the evil of the mainstream elites. He has done more by just being himself, than most of the presidents that have gone before him.

He’s not a good man. Not even close. I’m not even sure – if we balance out all the decisions that he’s made – that he’s even a good president. I honestly don’t know – even though I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. But, the fact that he has revealed the evil of the mainstream media, the corruption of mainstream elites and the fraud of the Deep State, is worth a lot.

Worse, Donald Trump revealed that the average American is corrupt. And yes, I mean that with utter conviction. The average American is corrupt. Even worse than that, the average American Christian is corrupt. And, this corruption is the result of decade upon decade of corrupt decisions by a greedy and careless population.

Of course, it is human to be corrupt, so in one sense I don’t blame the average American for being corrupt. It’s what we humans always become. It’s what we have done for thousands of years. But, I DO blame the American Christians for being corrupt.

Whatever happens next, after the election and in the days ahead, remember this one thing:

For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

 – 1 Peter 4:17 (NASB)

We Christians have polluted ourselves so badly, that we don’t even know what the truth is. We don’t even CARE what the truth is. And, when confronted with the truth, we Christians often reject it.

The good thing – and there’s always a good thing – is that there are some who still love the truth. There are still those who believe that nothing is more important than God and His words. There are still some of us willing to sacrifice anything and everything for God and His Son.

I wish that there were more of us. And maybe, the great suffering that is ahead will convince some of our corrupt brothers and sisters to repent. I don’t have much hope for a great awakening, but I have some hope that the suffering and persecution that is in our future, will provide an opportunity for a return to Godliness.

Foul Corruption at Crossway and the English Standard Version

The problem with Godliness is that it requires repentance. And, repentance cannot happen until God has brought us face-to-face with our own corruption. I say cannot, only because I’m trying to be nice. Since corruption is a choice, the choice of words is ‘will not’. We will not repent until God forces us to.

I recently saw an example of this in action with a corrupt Christian publishing company, Crossway. They created a new translation of the Bible, called the English Standard Version. It first came out in 2001, with another revision in 2007, then 2011 – followed by another revision in 2016.

As most of you know, I have become ever more distrustful of the King James Version. I keep finding more and more verses that were deliberately corrupted by the Anglican translators of the KJV, so much so that I can no longer trust that what I’m reading is actually what the Bible says.

The Bible Is ONLY The Hebrew And Greek Text

Remember that the Bible is not the translation that you hold in your hands. It’s not the KJV, the ASV, the NIV or the ESV. The Bible is the ancient Hebrew text of the Old Testament and the ancient Greek text of the New Testament. Those who do not understand that are doomed to error and even heresy.

So, if you want to know what God is actually telling us through the words of the Book that He gave us, you want a translation that is as faithful as possible to the Bible – according to your reading level. If you are a Christian, you want to read and hear what God is actually telling you. Not what a corrupt translator is trying to make you believe.

The KJV Is Corrupt

And yes, the translators of the King James Version were corrupt. Maybe not all of them, but enough of them, so that the King James Version cannot be trusted as a correct translation of the Bible. There are so many errors in the KJV that I am forced to accept the fact that they were deliberate. They did it on purpose, and I am sickened by this.

The fact that many Christians don’t seem to care, makes this even worse. I don’t care how much good has been done, using the KJV. None of that good changes the fact that the Anglicans under King James deliberately – with malice aforethought – corrupted the translation of the Bible to try and make it say something that it does not.

Not everything, but enough that it makes it impossible to trust the KJV without double-checking everything that it says. And, I just don’t have the time to do that, while I am trying to do my daily reading.

The ‘straw that broke the camel’s back’ for me was the corruption of this verse:

But stay alert at all times, praying that you will have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

 – Luke 21:36 (NASB)

The problem is that the KJV translators deliberately corrupted that verse. They knew what it should have said. They knew the Greek, but they chose to insert a Roman Catholic corruption.

Here’s what the KJV says:

Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

What the Anglicans did to that verse is beyond horrifying. And, I feel bad that it took me so long to discover what the Anglicans have done to us for more than three hundred years.

The KJV Corruption Protected The Pretrib Lie

Would the pretribbers have been so successful in brainwashing us, if that verse had been translated correctly?

In fact, the pretrib heresy would have been shouted down, because we all would have understood that escaping the Great Tribulation will require strength and not the Rapture. In fact, more Christians would have been awake to what is happening right now, if evil Anglican translators had not sinned against us and against God.

And yes, I believe that many – if not most – of the KJV translators are burning in Hell because they were not, and never were, Christians.

Once I began to realize that the KJV could not be trusted, I started looking for other translations that were more accurate. Once upon a time, I thought that the ASV – the American Standard Version – might be a good choice. And, I started reading it. But, I ran into too many errors. So, I could not trust the ASV.

Then, I looked at the NET – the New English Translation. Nope, errors. Lots. But, there was this translation called the English Standard Version – the ESV.

The more that I looked at the ESV, the better that it looked. It seemed more readable than the NASB, but was said to be as accurate as the NASB – New American Standard Bible. I was impressed. So much so, that I started to get ready to transition to the ESV in my daily reading. But, before doing that, I did one final check.

I did a search online for anyone claiming evidence that the ESV had mistakes. And, I found them. Worse, I also found that Crossway was hiding the mistakes that they had made in the ESV. It’s bad enough that you would make a mistake in translation. It happens. But, it’s worse when you try to cover it up.

The Crossway Corruption Coverup

And yes, Crossway Books has been involved in a years-long coverup of their translation ‘mistakes’. In fact, I’m afraid that their ‘translation mistake’ was actually a deliberate corruption. They did it on purpose. They knew what they did, and tried to do a coverup when they were caught.

There is literally no other interpretation of their actions that you can make. They did it on purpose, and they didn’t even repent. It’s so bad, that I can hardly believe it. But, it’s worse than that.

English-speaking Christianity has gotten so bad, that they literally do not care if a Bible translation has been corrupted. The seminaries don’t care. The pastors don’t care. The average Christian doesn’t care.

And… We Don’t Care

Only a handful of Christians actually care about what Bible translators have been doing to the Bible. And none of this is more depressing than that. THAT has really gotten me depressed.

Why did we allow ourselves to become so corrupt?

I know why Crossway corrupted themselves. Bible publishers don’t care about truth. They just care about sales.

I know why seminaries corrupted themselves. Seminaries don’t care about the truth, either – as long as enrollment is high and people keep saying nice things about them.

I know why pastors corrupted themselves. They want to keep their job and their paycheck, and they still want to be told how wonderful they are by their buddies.

All of that is horribly corrupt, but I understand such corruption. What I do not understand is that the average Christian doesn’t care that Bible publishers, seminaries and pastors have become so corrupt.

We allowed this.

The answer is that WE are corrupt, too. And, it is only by God’s grace and mercy that you and I can see it. Otherwise, we’d be in the same boat as our corrupt brothers and sisters.

What Crossway Did

But wait…

What was it that Crossway did that got me so upset?

Sorry, I almost forgot to talk about that. So, let me point you to these two verses:

To the woman He said, “I will greatly multiply Your pain in childbirth, In pain you shall deliver children; Yet your desire will be for your husband, And he shall rule over you.”

 – Genesis 3:16 (NASB)

If you do well, won’t it be lifted up? If you don’t do well, sin crouches at the door. Its desire is for you, but you are to rule over it.”

 – Genesis 4:7 (WEB)

Most Translations Get Genesis 4:7 Wrong

I find it interesting that the only translations able to get Genesis 4:7 right were the American Standard Version (ASV), World English Bible (WEB), the Tree of Life Version (TLV), and the NASB1995. All the other versions in this list, got it wrong:

Everyone else got it wrong. The KJV, the NIV, the HCSB and all the rest, got it wrong. In fact, even the interlinear version got it wrong:

The word שאת (pronounced seh-et) does NOT mean ‘accepted’. It means ‘lift up’. Why the other translations made this error, I don’t know. But, I DO know what the ESV translators did, in their 2016 version of the English Standard Version.

Here’s Crossway’s corrupted ESV version Genesis 4:7:

If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it.”

Not only does Crossway get the first part of that verse wrong, but they also deliberately corrupted the translation of this word:

pronounced: eh-ley-cha (ch as in Bach)

It means ‘to you’ or ‘for you’ or ‘your’ – depending on the context. IT NEVER MEANS CONTRARY TO YOU. Period. End of statement.

This is some of the most basic Hebrew possible. Any Israeli child could tell you how bad an error this is. In fact, it’s so basic and so stupid that it can only be deliberate.

Crossway Deliberately Corrupts Genesis 3:16

But, when we get to what Crossway did to Genesis 3:16, the deliberate corruption is even more clear:

To the woman he said, “I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children. Your desire shall be contrary to your husband, but he shall rule over you.”

 – Genesis 3:16 (ESV)

In Genesis 3:16, the word אל (pronounced: el) ONLY means ‘to’ or ‘towards’. It CANNOT mean, and NEVER EVER HAS MEANT ‘contrary to’. It is a demonic level of incompetence so high, that I cannot understand it. And, it makes me wonder about whether ANY of this translation can be trusted.

Please understand that this is not a small ‘mistake’. It wasn’t just an ‘oops’. The person who did this knew what he was doing. Either that, or his understanding of Hebrew was so bad, that Crossway should be condemned for criminal negligence. The Hebrew preposition אל is so basic, that making a mistake in its meaning is beyond comprehension. But, it gets worse.

Confirmation Of Evil Intent

When people began to discover what Crossway had done, Crossway took down the webpage that describes the changes for the 2016 release of their ESV translation. Here’s the original page:

Notice that you cannot find that page on their website. In fact, within weeks of their ‘mistake’ going public, they took down that page.

THAT, my friends, is CONFIRMATION of evil intent.

We all make mistakes. We all sin. We all do things that we must apologize for. I’ve had to do my share of apologizing and asking God for forgiveness. And, Crossway actually acknowledged its ‘mistake’ in a tepid, limp way, that was a big pile of nothing.

But, did they repent?

Did they expunge their ‘mistake’ from the electronic versions that they were publishing?

Did they fix their ‘mistake’ on their own website?

That’s right, not even on their website:

I can’t believe it. They KNOW that they are wrong. They’ve been told by every Hebrew expert on the planet that they are wrong. But, after four years of being told that they were wrong, they STILL refuse to change their ‘mistake’.

We are left with only one possible conclusion:

They did it on purpose

With malice aforethought.

It is confirmed without a shred of doubt.

Did you notice that NONE of these men studied in Jerusalem or Ramat Gan?

Those men have put their stamp of approval on this deliberate corruption. All of them. Crossway said that it was a ‘unanimous decision’. So, they knew what they did. They agreed with what was done. THEY STILL DO.

Therefore, they are to be condemned for it. In fact, according to Titus 3, they can no longer be called brothers in Christ. It’s that serious.

Deliberate, Obscene Corruption

Deliberately corrupting the words of God, and attempting to corrupt those words in the minds of fellow Christians is as bad as breaking the deadliest of the 10 commandments. In fact, adultery – which is punishable by death in the eyes of God – would be preferable to doing what these men have done.

How many other verses have they deliberately corrupted?

If they would be so evil and so awful and so deliberately corrupt in Genesis 3:16, it is natural to expect them to have done exactly the same thing to other verses of the Bible. And, because I don’t know which ones that they have also deliberately corrupted, I am not sure what to say, or even do.

I love the One Year Bible format. I have been reading it every day for probably 20 years. Before then, my daily reading was more haphazard. So, I want a One Year Bible version that I can trust.

This deliberate sin by Crossway, leaves me with looking at other versions that have fewer deliberate errors. The NASB – New American Standard Bible – claims to be the most accurate, but the publishers of the One Year Bible no longer offer the NASB version.

What mistakes has the NASB made?

But It Gets Worse

But, it gets worse.

As bad as Crossway’s sin is, the response to their sin is worse. Aside from a few intrepid believers, the objection to what Crossway did was tepid, timid and weak. It was made perfectly clear to Crossway that they could do anything that they wanted, and no one would care.

Yes, the KJVOnly people will be upset with what Crossway does. But, the KJVOnly people are a cult. Everyone knows that. Everyone knows that the KJVOnly cult has completely discredited themselves – which means that Crossway is free to do what they want. And yes, let me make this very clear:

KJVOnly is a cult.

Those of you who worship the KJV have so discredited yourselves that you have made it difficult to stop Crossway from doing even more damage to the words of God. Because you will not acknowledge the errors in the KJV, you have no credibility in discussing the errors in the ESV. Therefore, you have weakened our ability to oppose the evil that Crossway is doing.

Aside from the KJVOnly cult, who else objects to what Crossway did?

A handful of intellectuals and some feminists.

I could only find a handful of people who objected to what Crossway did – in terms of a corruption of the words of God. And, even fewer could even do that with any knowledge of Hebrew.

I know that it’s unfair to expect the average Christian to understand Hebrew. So, I don’t. But, I expect pastors to understand. Because all of our translations are corrupted, Hebrew and Greek should be a basic requirements for a pastor. And no, we aren’t talking about being able to decipher ‘Strong’s Numbers’. James Strong did the best that he could, but his Hebrew was far from perfect.

How many pastors objected to what Crossway did?

I’m not sure that any did – except for those in the KJVOnly Cult. The seminaries didn’t object, either. Just a couple intellectuals.

This is how lost we are. This is how pathetic and sinful we have become. We have lost even the ability to care about what corrupt men and women are doing to our ability to understand the words of God.

This is an abomination.

How dare we allow this.

Apostasy Report #19

How ironic that Joshua Chavez came out with his 19th Apostasy Report, two days ago. Here it is:

Apostasy Report – Franklin Graham The Evangelist Of Compromise

Joshua is harsh. But, he’s right. And, it’s a bit hypocritical of me to object to his harshness, since I’m pretty harsh myself.

My hope is that you will be angry at Franklin Graham and all the other corrupt men and women who claim to be Christian teachers and pastors. The evil in the pulpit and the evil in our congregations has destroyed us.

We are long past the point of no return. We can no longer hope for mercy and forgiveness for our nation or our communities. We cannot even hope that God will spare our churches.

When God destroyed Jerusalem for their sin, how many were spared?

Just a handful.

When God judges our churches…

…how many of us will be spared?

I truly hope that you’ll be ready for this

A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.Proverbs 22:3

    • Hi Mark Jerde,

The best translation of the original Greek is this:

But stay alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that must happen, and to stand before the Son of Man.

      – Luke 21:36 (NET)

‘accounted worthy to escape’ is a Roman Catholic translation, and the one used by the KJV. And, it’s proof that the translators of the KJV were either corrupt or criminally ignorant of Greek. Or, both. Probably both.

      I hope that helps, Mark.

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

  1. Hi John!

Been reading between translations and checking against the Interlinear. I’ve noticed too the Interlinear has errors, though hopefully few and far between. Without knowing Hebrew and Greek, it is challenging (but worth checking).

The one noticable missing verse in the NASB I can point out is that in Acts 8, verse 37 in completely removed. That’s a pretty key part of the conversation story of the Ethiopian. Why do they remove it?

Here it is in Acts 8:36-38:

“As they went along the road they came to some water; and the eunuch *said, “Look! Water! What prevents me from being baptized?”[r] 38 And he ordered that the [s]chariot stop; and they both went down into the water, Philip as well as the eunuch, and he baptized him.”

Notice the bracketed “r”. Here is the note from the NASB: Acts 8:36 Late mss add as v 37: And Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”

Now the 1995 NASB has the verse, but again says it was added in later.

Was this verse really added later and not a part of the original text? That is a good question.

I found a lot of questions and contention over the matter of this missing verse. On one of the forums I explored, and man named Seth Freeman stated that it was in there as far back as the 6th century. Here’s his response to the question (

“Early manuscripts such as P45 (3rd century), P74 (7th century), Sinaiticus (4th century), Vaticanus (4th century), Alexandrinus (5th century), C (5th century), L (8th century), and Ψ (9th century) omit the verse. The earliest extant manuscript to include the verse is E from the 6th century. Thus E is predated by 5 manuscripts that omit the verse. Worthy of note is that all 5 of these are Egyptian manuscripts. However, early Latin fathers such as Irenaeus and Cyprian knew of the verse:

Irenaeus (180 AD): [Philip declared] that this was Jesus, and that the Scripture was fulfilled in Him; as did also the believing eunuch himself: and, immediately requesting to be baptized, he said, “I believe Jesus Christ to be the Son of God.”

Cyprian (250 AD): In the Acts of the Apostles: “Lo, here is water; what is there which hinders me from being baptized? Then said Philip, If you believe with all your heart, you may.”

These Church father quotations predate all of the extant manuscripts that omit the verse. In terms of the number of manuscripts, 8:37 is not found in the majority of even the later manuscripts. However, the official Greek text of the Greek Orthodox Church, the 1904 Patricarchal Text, has included the verse.

So basically, some manuscripts have it, some manuscripts don’t.”
    June 17 2014

    • Very interesting. I’m curious about who would have left out that verse (or added?). This is certainly a far more legitimate issue than deliberately corrupting verses that you don’t like. Thanks for that addition to the conversation, Jennifer! – JL

  2. Hey brother John
wish you are well with your soul
this Joshua is very good and his biblestudy about self pity is really to the point and he says thing a many dont want to hear or even pronounce i like him a lot
i went to the church the last i could go without car but i discovered the board of the church aconowledge homosexuality as normal and not a sin
the female pastor i liked very much and she dont agree with it but choose to stay in this church she said I have a point
when she asked i would continue to go the the church. i said no with much regret I know apostle Paul dealt with many such errors in the church but when this church( liberal protestant) take something forbidden by God and normalize it by law i cannot longer go to this church unfortunately so i cannot warn the other churchgoers because i am not above the pastor they already compromise with female pastors( dressed like catholic pastor) so there is then further compromise to find
a little leaven infects the whole bread ( aka churchgroup) so again nowhere to go and the lockdown is here again in my country
I read a dutch article Taiwan is the only country without infections and measures wow ! what a blessing for you brother John
i will be glad to leave this world really and replace it with the kingdom of God !

i hope everythings works out for you and your wife like God intends

    sister Nadine

    • I’m sorry that you’ve had such trouble finding a good church, Nadine. Such corruption is becoming more and more commonplace, and it’s very depressing. And yes, we have been blessed to be mostly infection-free and praise God for this. – JL

  3. Hi John
Like you, I’ve long been aware of corruption in the translation of the Bible. I’m saving up to buy the Greek Septuagint. I read that the NET translation was the most accurate but from what I’ve just read in the Shock Letter you don’t think this is true?
I agree with you about the evil of those who bring the bible to the West, I myself have an NASB but that’s also inaccurate in many places. Its hard to know where to go for the truth especially for those of us who don’t read Greek or Hebrew.
So well done for bringing clarity. I also saw the post about Franklin Graham, it was harsh but true.
Keep up the good work & good luck in Taiwan I’ve been watching China & its plans regarding your country. Stay safe. Our prayers go with you.

    Sue Harris

    • Thank you, Sue. I had hope that the NET was a good translation, but it has its share of errors, also. I just do not understand why translators have been so willing to do such a poor job. Most of the mistakes that I’ve seen are really basic stuff. – JL

  4. Well, when you find a version that has the least possible error, do let us know. I will probably never learn Greek and Hebrew, but I do care what the truth actually is. When I come to a controversial passage, upon which something pivotal depends, I usually look it up on BibleGateway in as many versions as I can – to get a grasp of the possibilities – but without much understanding of what may be more correct than the others.

Speaking of which …. I had a thought this morning. (It still happens, occasionally …..) I was praying, and a regular part of my prayer these days is for discernment on what is the actual mark of the beast. I know you have said that it necessarily must involve a voluntary act of false worship. That is absolutely logical, but we cannot expect God to always use human logic. One teacher whom I respect, and have not found anything questionable about (yet) believes it’s an RFID chip. Yet another, also respectable, says it’s an invisibly tattooed bar code. Still another, but who does make some questionable (but not clearly false) statements says it’s a vaccine able to change our DNA so that we are no longer 100% human, but are hybrids like pre-Noah, that had to be wiped out and which were unredeemable because of their hybrid DNA – and Jesus’ bloodline was preserved by this wiping out of hybrids and His sacrifice was to save true humans. I have no idea and find all this confusing, although it does stand to reason that if we can lose our salvation over it, it must involve a willing act of false worship. It makes my head spin. So I determined to pray about this every day until I get some insight. This morning, the following thought popped into my mind while I was praying:

The Word says, with an emphasis on exercising wisdom, that it is the number of a man and the number of his name. All this time, every commentary I’ve read or heard has assumed that this number is that of the antichrist or of his name. What if the meaning is, this “mark” is a way to distinguish and identify THE MAN SO MARKED? As in, marking us not with the antichrist’s name, but a unique ID – the mark on the individual is a numeric equivalent to that individual’s name? In order to uniquely identify and track all of us? And associate the individual with that individual’s financial information, thus the ability to buy and sell in this system? If so, how would / could this affect salvation????? My head is about to explode.

    • Hi DRG,

Yeah. The Mark of the Beast. This is a tough one. And, we’ve been wrestling with this for almost 2000 years.

Since the Bible refers to a MARK. We’re stuck with interpreting it as something visible. It doesn’t mean that an RFID chip would not be included, but a visible mark would seem to be the clearest interpretation.

As for the vaccine thing. Pure garbage. And, the people making such claims, also make other… ‘claims’. (Nazis under Antarctica? Seriously?) We barely understand genetics as it is. Even when we target a specific portion of our DNA, the failure rate is still waaaaay too high. Of course, this could change, but the need for a voluntary acceptance of the Mark seems to preclude a ‘vaccine’.

As for the RFID chip. What you can read electronically, can be spoofed. What can be programmed, can be hacked.

Finally, the one point that is the most important is that our civilization will begin to decline. It has already started. My suspicion is that the Antichrist will need to rely on a fairly simple means of identifying who is following him, and who isn’t.

We’ll see what happens. Unfortunately, the events between now and then is what concerns me the most. And, our brothers and sisters are NOT paying attention.

And yeah. About those translations. I wish that I had something better than the ‘fuss and feathers’ of wounded outrage.

      Excellent comment, DRG. Thank you.

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

      • DRG writes about the mark of the beast
Rev. 13:8 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666.

Well, we want insight – and this revelation seems to be a mysterie
Rev 17:8 The beast, which you saw, once was, now is not, and yet will come up out of the Abyss and go to its destruction. The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast, because it once was, now is not, and yet will come.

‘Astonished’ is like admiration… they like the beast so much, they will adore him. A false worship indeed.
Who are ‘they’? (Rev. 17:8) The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation – People like you and me, but… their names have not been written in the book of life from the creation.…

Rev. 13:18 – ‘A person who has insight’ is a person who’s name has been written in the book of life from the creation. Let’s not fool ourselves. What does it mean to have your name written in the book? Before creation, as eternal life?

        • Hi Peter Schilperoord,

My Greek is not as good as my Hebrew, so I need help from a concordance to address your point about Revelation 17:8.

The word ‘astonished’ or ‘amazed’ is θαυμασθήσονται (thaumasthēsontai). You should look at the other uses of this word in the New Testament. It has everything to do with surprise. There is no place in the New Testament were that word indicates worship.

As we seek to understand what God is telling us, we must be extra careful to not add to what God did not say – especially since the last four verses of the Bible warn us of what would happen to us if we do this to the Book of Revelation.

So no, I’m afraid that ‘astonished’ is not like ‘admiration’.

BUT, you are correct that those whose names are written in the Book of Life will NOT be astonished. That is comforting to think about.

Thank you, for sharing that with us, Peter.

          Yours in Christ,

          John Little

          • Dear John,

You don’t need Greek to see a difference between astonishment and admiration. In this case the one leads to the other. They will be amazed, come under the spell and be set on fire. Far more erotic than anything else.

Rev. 17:16 … They will strip her naked, eat her flesh, and burn her remains with fire. We are talking spiritual warfare here.

  5. brother John

to my surprise the bibletranslation in Dutch NBG 1951 I use since convetsion is translated in the good way what is concerning the verses you mentioned
De NBG51 (masoretic text Codex L and New Testament Alexandrijnse text, for example Codex Sinaïticus, Vaticanus.)
    quite good for me

    greetings from sister Nadine

  6. This is so true in regard to the translation issue. My Grandpa , who was a preacher, liked the AAT or Beck translation. I have no idea on it’s accuracy, and never read it, but I am curious. What do we do then? the Holy Spirit , can and will give us the Truth , I hope you can continue your research John, and someday give a recommendation of a text that is better, for those of us who do not read Hebrew and Greek.

    • I have not heard of the AAT. I will keep an eye out for it. Ultimately, you are entirely correct that it is the Holy Spirit that will keep us on the right path. Even the more liberal translations cannot keep us from seeing Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Thank you, Ann! – JL

  7. AAT can be used for an earlier translation as well as Beck’s, my Grandpa liked the 1963 Dr. William F. beck translation.

  8. I have a question unrelated (I think) to this blog entry.

We just watched a video entitled, “Branded”, and it is about the persecution Church of Almighty God. It seems they have some aberrant beliefs, and even use some sort of modern-day oracles that were “uttered by the Holy Spirit” and prepared as a Bible-like book. The book has been disseminated to members.

Would you be able to enlighten me on this movement? Thanks.

    • Hi T2L,

      Church of Almighty God?

Wow, that group is getting around.

They are also known as ‘Eastern Lightening’, and Mrs. Little and I have known about them for years. The fact that English speakers are starting to hear about them is interesting.

I’m not sure about how much detail to get into in the comment section, but one thing should be absolutely and totally clear:

      They are a cult.

      They are antichrist.

They are not THE Antichrist. They might not ever have anything to do with the Antichrist when he rises. But, the are absolutely and totally ANTI Christ. They are as evil as the Moonies, the Mormons and the Muslims.

      They’re also completely nuts.

Seriously, these people are out of their minds. And, I am amazed that they are making so much progress in North America. The fact that YOU saw them, means that I might need to start talking about them. Interesting.

Too much of this, and I might need to drag Mrs. Little into the spotlight. She’s camera-shy, but if this keeps up… I might be able to convince her to overcome her reluctance.

Thanks for that, T2L. That was an important comment.

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

  9. I have been reading most if your posts and wish to encourage you on your effort to see errors introduced in most of the translations. God bless you.
