Can You Vote for a Weasel?

Early voting in the United States has already begun. And, it didn’t take long for fraud to rear its ugly head. Having seen the amoral nature of American politics from the inside, I’m not surprised.

But, how do you vote, when you know that you will stand before God and give an answer for all the choices that you have made?

That’s a tough one, and I’m not sure what to say about that. When the system has no morality, it’s hard for someone with morals to choose who runs the system.

And, there’s even more than that to talk about.

Can You Vote for a Weasel?

Early voting has started in the United States, and we’ve had the first Presidential Debate. And, if you are like me, you are more than a little horrified by the political situation in America. Hopefully, you are even more horrified by the moral situation.

I still remember the shock that I felt upon returning to the US after 14 years abroad. The moral decay was so bad and so evident, that I wanted to turn around and go right back to Jerusalem. But, God had plans for me, so I had to stick around for a few years before escaping.

But, it’s an election year and even an election month, so you probably don’t want to hear about morals. You probably want to hear about your favorite candidate. I get that, but remember that a vote is a choice. It’s an action. By voting for someone, you are giving your approval to that person’s platform. You are claiming that what he or she said was acceptable.

That kind of decision is spiritually significant.

Will God find that decision to be good and right?

The moral decline of America started when Christians abdicated their position. We were supposed to be the ‘salt of the earth’. We were supposed to have been the reflection of Christ, so that a dying world would know the path of salvation and truth. But, we gave that up and became indistinguishable from those around us.

We hid the light, and America fell. And yes, I blame myself and the rest of us who donned the garments of worldly behavior. Of course, we had help from political pastors, corrupt seminaries and lying politicians. But, we still played our part. And every time that I read this verse, I stop and think:

if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Wait… it said:

‘if my people’

That’s us. That’s Christians. That’s those who have called themselves by the name of God. That’s you. That’s me.

It might be too late to save America, but it’s never to late to ask God to forgive. It’s never too late to humble yourself before God and admit that you have sinned against Him. It is NEVER too late to turn from your wicked ways.

But, does the blood that stains our hands wash off?

The blood of unborn children?

Does the evil that we have taught our children in school and on television go away overnight?

No, no it doesn’t. And, I doubt that there are enough real followers of Christ in America, sufficient to turn the tide judgment. Like Sodom and Gomorrah, our sins cry out for justice. And, justice is coming. But, I can say this…

Someone stopped US diplomats from marching in the gay pride parade in Taipei.

Someone allowed Taiwan to buy the weapons that she desperately needed to defend herself against true evil.

Someone fulfilled his promise to move the US embassy to Jerusalem.

Someone told the Arabs to shut up and sit down.

I think that you know who that someone is. It doesn’t mean that this person is a Christian or even a good person. But, it might mean that you can vote for him.

Decades ago, you might have been able to find a Democrat to vote for. But, not now. And, there are a lot of Republicans that you might not be able to vote for, either. America’s ‘lesser of two evils’ political system allowed evil to take over the US government.

I have a friend who bitterly remembers her own inaction when Roe v. Wade legalized the wholesale murder of children. She is now a passionate advocate for the unborn, and I would love to believe that we could stop the shedding of innocent blood. But, like the cute and furry weasel, our politicians love to steal, kill and destroy. And, it’s time to stop giving them our permission to do so.

It’s time to stop voting for weasels.

The Wise Will Instruct Many – Daniel 11:33

A few weeks ago, I heard a reference to Daniel 11:33 and a hope to be among the wise who would instruct many. I also hope to be counted among those who have ‘instructed many’. But, there’s more than one painful context to that verse, so let’s read the whole thing:

And the wise among the people shall make many understand, though for some days they shall stumble by sword and flame, by captivity and plunder.

 – Daniel 11:33 (ESV)

Ouch.

This means that those who are wise and who teach properly will suffer greatly during the time of the Antichrist. And yes, that is a context that I am NOT looking forward to. However, this begs an important question:

Why will there be a need for ‘the wise’ to ‘instruct many’?

Because so many Christians will be deceived.

Who will be deceiving them?

Well, Daniel 11 talks about the Antichrist, about the Abomination of Desolation. And, he will definitely be doing some heavy deception. But, with so many heresies floating around…

…which is the heresy that the Antichrist will stand on?

If I had to pick one, it would probably be the one that eliminates the Book of Revelation and the prophecies of the Old Testament. Raise your hand if you know which one that I’m thinking of:

That’s right, Preterism.

They believe that the Book of Revelation was fulfilled just under 40 years after Christ died and rose again. To them, the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple, in AD 70, fulfilled everything. So, when the Antichrist proclaims himself to be god, they’ll accept him. People like Chuck Baldwin, The Pope and the Archbishop of Canterbury, will all embrace the Man of Fierce Countenance. But, there’s another group that I worry about:

Dispensationalists (aka, Pretribbers)

The idea that God will snatch us away from experiencing persecution is utterly incomprehensible. And, there is nowhere in the Bible that speaks of this ‘snatching away’ before the coming of the Antichrist. It actually says the opposite. But, there are too many weasel theologians and weasel pastors who won’t proclaim the truth that they actually know.

Yes, I mean it.

Weasels.

They didn’t just go into politics. They also went to seminary. They became pastors and professors of theology. They called themselves theologians and wrote books that were full of their weasel ideas.

What’s theology?

The study of what man would like God to be.

What’s a theologian?

Someone who makes up his own idea of who God is, and tells everyone that the Bible agrees.

Worse, for more than 200 years, we’ve been giving these weasels our money and our children. And, they’ve churned out little weasel robots that repeat their weasel theology. And, when anyone escapes their weasel ideas, and realizes that we really are going through the Great Tribulation… they still cannot escape the weasels.

How do I know this?

Because they still suffer the same distorted view of the Bible that the weasel theologians gave them. They haven’t given up the commentaries that caused them to believe their weasel ideas. They still think that the salvation of Israel will happen after the Antichrist has been destroyed. In fact, many believe that Gog in Ezekiel 38 and 39 is actually the Antichrist.

What a weasel idea!

(Sorry, I’ve got weasels on the brain.)

And no, the 70th week of Daniel 9:27, is NOT in the future. It was fulfilled almost 2000 years ago. There is nothing about the Antichrist in Daniel 9. Yet, that doesn’t seem to stop people from proclaiming that the 70th week, is coming.

Please, if we wish to be named among the wise who instruct many, we must forsake the weasel ideas that have corrupted our view of the Bible. We must look at what the Bible says, instead of what we want it to say.

A Weasel Translation – Zechariah 14:2

I spent most of my life reading the King James Version. I enjoy the thees and thous and even the -th suffixes. But, I keep finding translation errors that shockingly distort the meaning of what God is telling us. One of my more recent discoveries was that Luke 21:36 does not say what the King James Version claims that it says.

The KJV claims that Jesus said for us to pray:

…that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass…

While the ESV and NET get it right:

…that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place…

The KJV also gets Daniel 8:12 wrong. And, I’ve been wondering about how many other verses that the King James and his translators ‘mishandled’. Well, I found another one this week:

For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

 – Zechariah 14:2 (KJV)

The problem is that the original Hebrew in that verse doesn’t use the word for ‘captivity’. The Hebrew word for captivity is שביה (sheev-yah), and it is used for when people are taken prisoner.

What does the Hebrew in Zechariah 14:2 actually say?

Well, here’s a hint from the Book of Revelation:

But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle so that she might fly from the serpent into the wilderness, to the place where she is to be nourished for a time, and times, and half a time.

 – Revelation 12:14 (ESV)

Zechariah 14 and Revelation 12 talk about the same moment in time. When the Antichrist attacks Jerusalem. But, where the KJV says ‘captivity’, the actual word is גלות (gah-loot) or exile.

Here is that verse in Zechariah translated properly:

For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city shall be taken and the houses plundered and the women raped. Half of the city shall go out into exile, but the rest of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

 – Zechariah 14:2 (ESV)

The translators employed by King James should have understood the difference, and they should have made that difference clear – instead of inserting their own interpretation of that verse. I am sure that there are lots of people who would have seen the connection between Revelation 12:14 and Zechariah 14:2 a lot sooner, if the KJV translators had given up their love for the Roman Catholic Latin Vulgate.

I am getting very tired of catching translation errors in the KJV. It is starting to look more and more likely that I really will be switching to the English Standard Version for my daily reading. I don’t want to, but I cannot tolerate having my mind corrupted by a weasel translation.

How Long Are The Seven Seals Of Revelation

Last week, I talked about the Book of Revelation. Whether it was chronological. Where it talked about The Great Tribulation. And, even pointing out When Jacob Returns. Here’s the link, if you didn’t catch it:

I kinda went a bit overboard and threw a lot more into that post than I originally intended. But, I’ve been focused on that topic for years. Actually decades. Yes, more than one. Um, more like… three. Yes, at least three decades. And, with 2020 being so awful, a lot of people have been focused on the Book of Revelation, too. But, I’m not sure that very many have been asking the right question about Revelation 6:

How long does each seal last?

Well, the first seal is about someone (or a system) conquering territory. The second is about violence and upheaval. The third seal is scarcity. The fourth is death through violence, pestilence and wild animals.

How long does that take?

At least years – even if you want to argue that the time periods overlap. And, I’m not sure how much they overlap each other. Then, when we hit seal six, there is a definite stop in the process of opening the seals.

What happens during that pause?

The salvation of Israel and the marking of the 144,000 Israelis.

And, if the first four seals take years to accomplish, you know that the pause between seal six and seven is at least years. Even a decade. Or two. And, we will not see the Antichrist proclaim himself to be god until AFTER the six seals – and the pause – have been accomplished.

And, why should there be a special proclamation to pause the opening of the seals?

Why would the sealing/marking of the 144,000 take any more time than the other seals?

Well, it takes at least some amount of time for Christians to reach spiritual maturity. It takes at least years. Some Christians require decades of growth to reach maturity. Others, never do.

Of course, I’m engaging in some speculation here. So, don’t take my word for it. And, as you consider the amount of time involved, think about the events that might happen next.

And, as you think about what I’ve said here, pray for President Trump. As I was writing, the news came out that he and his wife tested positive for Sars-Cov-2 and might have some symptoms. I’m not sure what all of that means. It might be nothing. It might be something serious. We’ll see.

Just remember. Weasels are cute and furry, but you don’t vote for them.
