Let’s dig deeper into what pornography does to the brain. I gave you my own experience with pornography. So, let’s look at some science and statistics that tell us about what happens to a brain that is being assaulted by pornography.
And yes, it is an assault.
Those who have been caught by pornography, are being assaulted and abused. Their minds. Their brains. Their relationships. Their sense of reality. It’s all being abused by this foul creature that we call pornography.
Worse, far worse, your spiritual life and your destiny in heaven is under assault.

Let’s get something straight:
Everything affects the brain.
Everything you hear. Everything you watch. Every decision that you make. Even the food that you eat and the air that you breathe… it all affects the brain. Your music. What you read. Your friends. Your enemies. Your job, or the fact that you don’t have one. They all affect the brain. And, the younger you are, the stronger the effects are.
Up until the age of about 25 your brain is pretty elastic. The connections inside your brain change quickly, and external influence is far more pronounced. We refer to this as neuroplasticity. In fact, let me refer you to MedicineNet.com for a good definition:
Neuroplasticity: The brain’s ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections throughout life. Neuroplasticity allows the neurons (nerve cells) in the brain to compensate for injury and disease and to adjust their activities in response to new situations or to changes in their environment.
Brain reorganization takes place by mechanisms such as “axonal sprouting” in which undamaged axons grow new nerve endings to reconnect neurons whose links were injured or severed. Undamaged axons can also sprout nerve endings and connect with other undamaged nerve cells, forming new neural pathways to accomplish a needed function.
Any new activity you engage in results in new connections in your brain. And, if it’s an ‘old’ activity, those connections become stronger. And, these things happen very quickly when you are younger. That’s why learning a new language is much easier before 25, than after. It’s why it’s easier to recover from brain damage at a young age, than an older age. It’s why most Nobel Prizes in science are for research that began when that person was in their twenties.
I could go on and on, but I’ll stop.
Yes, I know that we can still learn after the age of 25, but it’s harder to grasp the completely new, the older that you get. The good news is that you CAN help your brain become more elastic, but that’s a topic for another day.
The point is that what you feed your brain, changes your brain. Physically. So, when you feed your brain lots of pornography – or, even just a little pornography – the connections in your brain change. Pornography impacts the reward center of your brain, causing it to release dopamine. And THAT is where the addiction comes in.
The more that you do the ‘dopamine thing’ the more that you will want the ‘dopamine thing’.
And, pornography is a ‘dopamine thing’.
Now, not every ‘dopamine thing’ is bad for you. Crisp, fresh vegetables in a vinaigrette, is a good ‘dopamine thing’. The feeling of a job done well, is another. Heroin, cocaine and pornography are not.
How bad is pornography for you?
Well, let’s take a look at some statistics:
- Pornography use increases the marital infidelity rate by more than 300 percent.
- 56 percent of American divorces involve one party having an “obsessive interest” in pornographic websites.
- 70% of wives of sex addicts could be diagnosed with PTSD.
- Diminished trust between intimate couples.
- Belief that promiscuity is the natural state.
- Lack of attraction to family and child-raising.
- Habitual porn consumption causes significant loneliness and depression in men.
- Porn use is related to increased anxiety, depression, stress, and social problems.
- Among the effects of the use of pornography are an increased negative attitude toward women, decreased empathy for victims of sexual violence and an increase in sexually imposing behavior.
- Scientists have proven that pornography affects the brain in the same way drugs do. Watching porn literally will neurologically rewire your brain.
- Users also become desensitized to real sex.
- Women who view porn have similar pathways form in their brain; they will begin to accept that they are just objects to be used for sexual objectification and devalue themselves to fit the image of female porn stars.
- Another important point is that not all porn is visual. For many women, reading books with explicit sexual descriptions can be destructive to our view of sexuality and the expectations of relationships.
- More than 80% of women who have porn addiction take it offline. Women, far more than men, are likely to act out their behaviors in real life, such as having multiple partners, casual sex, or affairs

I’m betting that I could find a whole lot more, if I spent more time looking for all the damage that pornography does. Just look at the insanity around you.
How much of that insanity is due to PARENTS watching pornography, and then raising insane kids?
How much of it is due to kids going insane, with pornography?
How much child abuse comes from watching pornography?
How many criminals in jail were affected by pornography?
How many suicides have happened because people destroyed their lives and have nothing to live for, because of their porn addiction?
How many Christians have fallen away from Christ, because of pornography?
Of all the statistics that I am interested in, that last one is the most important.
How many will go to an eternity of suffering, because they chose fornication over Christ?
If you think that God will overlook an addiction to porn, think again:
Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
– 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
That’s God speaking, through the Apostle Paul. And, that word ‘fornication’ is just another term for ‘constantly watching pornography’ or ‘porn addiction’. And, God is saying that you will not go to Heaven, if you continue to indulge in pornography. You will spend an eternity in Hell. Of all the awful things that could happen to you, I can think of nothing worse than that.
I’m not done with this subject, because I have not yet spoken of pornography within our churches. But, I can tell you this that those Christians who do not break free of this addiction will not be going to heaven.

Rep. Devin Nunes: The Russian collusion hoax meets unbelievable end
Wow, this an excellent piece from a man who deserves to be President, but will never be… because he has too much integrity. Here are the last two paragraphs of his article:
The hoax itself was a gift to our nation’s adversaries, most notably Russia. The abuse of intelligence for political purposes is insidious in any democracy.
