Ouija Board Sales Skyrocket

If you don’t believe that demons and Satan are real, you are a fool.

For some reason, most American Christians have lost so much discernment that they’ve forgotten what the Bible says about such entities. Worse, more and more people are becoming interested in communicating with the spirit world, and we see this in the movies that Americans watch and in the dramatic rise in the sale of the Ouija Board.

I am distressed to discover that this vile ‘game’ is an American invention, and it is targeted straight at your children.

And, you probably have no idea how vulnerable your kids really are.

Ouija Board Sales Skyrocket

A couple days ago, I ran into this article:

Ouija boards are the must-have gift this Christmas, fuelled by a schlock horror film
http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/christmas/gifts/ouija-boards-are-the-musthave-gift-this-christmas-fuelled-by-a-schlock-horror-film-9885749.html

Here is what the Daily Mail had to say about the current sales of Ouija Boards:

Ouija boards are flying off the shelves. Not in the super- natural sense — but the commercial one.

The device, said to be a method of contacting the spirit world, is experiencing an unexpected renaissance. Google reports that sales of the board are up 300 per cent, and it is threatening to become a Christmas ‘must buy’.

Yes. Let’s celebrate the birth of Jesus by inviting Satan into our lives.

What a wonderful idea.

(sigh)

I grew up knowing that this ‘game’ was dangerous. But, not everyone felt the same way, and there were several kids in my neighborhood who had them. And, it’s even possible that they and their parents regularly attended church. After all, it is something of a tradition for Christians to dabble in the occult on Saturday and go to church on Sunday.

When I was doing some research into this today, I ran across this statement from The Smithsonian:

Aided by the stories about the celebrity sisters and other spiritualists in the new national press, spiritualism reached millions of adherents at its peak in the second half of the 19th century. Spiritualism worked for Americans: it was compatible with Christian dogma, meaning one could hold a séance on Saturday night and have no qualms about going to church the next day. It was an acceptable, even wholesome activity to contact spirits at séances, through automatic writing, or table turning parties, in which participants would place their hands on a small table and watch it begin shake and rattle, while they all declared that they weren’t moving it.

The Strange and Mysterious History of the Ouija Board

I’m sorry, but if you want to know why we are in so much trouble, I suspect that at least part of the reason starts there. A lot of the evil that we struggle with today has its roots in the 1800s.

Even Norman Rockwell had a painting for the Ouija Board:

On the May 1st, 1920, Saturday Evening Post
On the front page of the May 1st, 1920, Saturday Evening Post

When I did a search on Amazon for a Ouija Board, one of the most popular boards had this in their ‘product details’:

Manufacturer recommended age: 8 – 15 years

Right. That is the target – your children.

Okay, so you aren’t going to buy one for your kids, and that’s wonderful. But, your boys and girls have friends with parents that might not be so wise.

Do you know the fire that your kids are playing with?

Do THEY know?

This ‘board game’ has been popular for more than 120 years, when it was patented by Elijah Bond in 1890.

Oh, and how did they come up with the strange name for it?

They asked the board.

There are plenty of ways to invite demons into your life, and into the lives of your family. But, I don’t know of many that are quite so popular as this.

Parents, please pray that God would protect your kids from the evil that is out there.

I truly hope that you’ll be ready for this
(That’s a link. There’s not much time left.)

A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.Proverbs 22:3
