When your Dad is rich, you know that you will never need to worry about money. He may not always pay for everything that you want. But, you will never have to worry about what you need.

When your Dad is the God of the Universe…

…you will never need to worry about ANYTHING that you need.

Worry is just another word for fear. And yes, our Father really is the God of the Universe. And, the only thing that we need to fear is our inattention to what God is telling us.

That’s why, even with all that is going on around us, our only fear should be deafness to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

We live in the most dangerous and awful time in human history. And, as bad as things are now, they are going to get far worse. What lies ahead will shake men’s souls.

Jesus said this, about what’s coming:

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.Matthew 24:21

We WILL be going through that, as I described in my series, The Pre-Tribulation Rapture Lie.

And, we NEED to be concerned about it… but, in the same way that we plan for tonight’s dinner:

We plan as best we can…

…and hope that everyone was glad that they were there.

But, we don’t need to fear.

I Am NOT Afraid

So, when I write about all the evil that is happening in the world, and the plans that many have to kill you…

…I am not afraid, and you shouldn’t be either.

Now, some of us are GOING to be afraid, especially when we first wake up to what is going on. My own brutal awakening to our current situation, happened on the evening of April 5th, 2011.

But, I Have Been A Bit Hysterical

I was in complete shock and went just a teeny, tiny bit hysterical. In fact, one of the reasons why I do not delete previous articles is so that you can track the evolution of my own view of what is going on.

It truly has been an interesting process.

But, my hysterical beginnings did not include fear – at least, not fear for my own safety. I did (and do) fear for YOUR safety.

People have reminded me that I am not in a particularly safe place, because of China’s threat towards Taiwan. I get that, but I don’t mind. I’m not here, in Taipei, to escape danger. In fact, I have a class to teach tonight that is part of THE REASON why I am here.

My concern for you ends when you also find THE REASON. If you know where you are supposed to be, and are willing to accept whatever happens – well, that’s all that I need to know. It really is a blessing to see so many brothers and sisters serving the Lord.

But, for the rest, my fear for you drives me on. I know that God has you in the palm of His hand. And, I know that suffering and death will come for all of us. I get that.

My fear is that you will stand before the Lord one day, and He will ask you why you buried your talent in the ground, and why you allowed yourself to be destroyed by Satan.

Lucifer and his minions, the Luciferians, want you dead, and I don’t intend to make it easy for him to do what he wants.

Steve Quayle and Pastor Lankford On H&H

Well, all of this comes from the Thursday edition of the Hagmann & Hagmann Report. Steve Quayle and Pastor Lankford were on to talk about fear. They talked about the spirit of fear, and I whole-heartedly agree with everything they said.

You can find the show, here:

You can download the MP3 here:

Or, you can listen via the MP3 player that I have on this website:

That was a great show for all who suffer from fear and anxiety.

(And yes, that includes myself, from time to time.)

I highly recommend that you listen to it. It’s three hours long, so that might be more than you have time for, but listen to as much as you can.

Hashimoto’s Disease

Steve did pray for me in the last few minutes of the show, and I am deeply moved by that. You are probably wondering about why he would do such a thing…

…so maybe I should take a moment to talk about my own personal challenges.

I essentially suffer from Hashimoto’s Disease. I say ‘essentially’ because it’s hard to determine exactly whether it’s that, or something closely related.

I don’t put much faith in the test for Hashimoto’s Disease because it is so unreliable. However, another member of my family HAS been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, and autoimmune disease does run in my family. Add to that the fact that I’m in remission for a separate (although minor) autoimmune disease… and, well… logic would seem to indicate…

…that it’s Hashimoto’s Disease.

Whatever the case, my thyroid doesn’t work. At all.

Chronic Depression

Worse, my condition went untreated for a very long time, which lead to one of the worst cases of chronic depression that I know of. And, the interesting thing about depression is that once it sets in, it is difficult – if not impossible – to shake, even after the original causes have been dealt with.

And yes, hypothyroidism WILL cause depression. In fact, everyone that I know, who suffers from hypothyroidism, also suffers from depression. If you suffer from low thyroid, and do not struggle with depression, you are fortunate, indeed.

Although, you might be struggling with depression without knowing it. That was my story for quite a while.

Keeping Me Humble

I have asked the Lord repeatedly to take this from me, but He has told me that He will not, as long as I desire to serve Him. God hates pride and arrogance, and He will NOT tolerate a servant who is proud. And, this depression has helped keep my pride in check.

I have spoken of my struggle with pride, in the past, so please feel free to level that accusation against me. I willingly admit to it. And, it IS something that God hates.

(Although, please don’t confuse passion with pride.)

Famous Christians With Depression

For those of you who suffer depression, Charles Spurgeon also suffered terribly from this horrible affliction. And, some of the hymns that you sing in church were written by a fellow sufferer, William Cowper. And, every time you sing, What a Friend We Have in Jesus, think of the depression that plagued the life of that song’s writer, Joseph Scriven.

And, I believe that the Apostle Paul suffered depression, as well.

I truly would not wish this on my worst enemy.

Okay, I didn’t mean to go so deeply into the discussion of depression, but I guess that it was good to talk about it.

For those of you who are fellow sufferers, God bless you. I truly feel your pain.

And, thank you Steve, for your prayer. Sometimes it’s all a bit too much, and we desperately need the prayers of our brothers and sisters.

So, let me conclude by telling you that we need only fear our deafness to the Holy Spirit and our lack of willingness to obey. God is truly in control and loves us more than words can express.

Our Dad is the God of the Universe and will deny us nothing that is good for us, which means that our sufferings and affliction are for our good and His glory. So, rejoice in the midst of your distress. May we all be bright and shining lights in The Great Persecution that is coming.

God bless you all.

I truly hope that you’ll be ready for this

  2. ” THE WHOLE WORLD IS GROANING LIKE A WOMEN IN TRAVAIL WAITING FOR THE SON’s OF GOD TO BE REVEALED.” My friend John do not Confuse loneliness with depression. One day we will be whole/with Jesus. But until then the dragon comes against us. We are hated for Christ’s sake.

    • Hi Rinaldo Bonovento,

Thank you so much for your kind words. I really appreciate them.

However, I don’t suffer from loneliness. I have been richly blessed with a loving wife and a wonderful church family. God has been truly good to me.

God bless you, Rinaldo. Wonderful comment.

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

  3. Thank you for another amazing post. I’ve suffered from major clinical depression for 20+ years and has it EVER been an excruciating illness. God has, however, brought me to my knees because of this, and I praise him for the suffering that I’ve endured. Please don’t ever stop writing! Your messages speak to me in ways that words cannot express. God bless you, brother in Christ.

    • Hi Jen,

      So, you know.

I’m so sorry. God bless you, sister. I so wish that I could reach out and take it all away. I really do.

I pray that God would send you comfort and release. I am a living, breathing example of God’s grace, and I see that you understand this. I am convinced that our Lord suffers with you in this shadow of death, and your willingness to love the Lord and submit to Him in the midst of it… well, you truly glorify God.

I know the struggle that each day brings, how you would much rather be resting in the arms of God. But, you’ve chosen to serve Him here.

God bless you, Jen. My prayers go with you.

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

  4. John, Sorry to hear about your autoimmune disease. I will pray for your strength and health to overcome this disease. Just as you wrote in the pre trib rapture that they should not expect to get removed from the planet, but be ready to go through the tribulation. In your case, your health will not hold you back from doing anything God has for you to do! Please memorize this scripture as it can be your Ark in the tribulation, Isaiah 40:31. If you’re sick, God will help you walk, run or fly, whatever it takes to keep you safe. RH

  5. There are some AMAZING inspirational gems of encouragement in the Christian classic, “Christ’s Object Lessons” by Ellen White. I strongly recommend it!

  6. Hi, John. From another with the same condition (Hashimoto’s thyroiditis) a BIG squeeze and hug. I am not afflicted with depression as badly, though I’ve endured a genuine bout of clinical depression. By the power of the Holy Spirit alone, I was able to overcome it, and without drugs. Truly His doing.

Just a thought if I may. Your postings NEVER sound depressed. You are pragmatic and incisively analytical. You may not call yourself a watchman (unless I’ve missed this) but you are decidedly a watchman. Watchmen don’t get to give a great deal of good news. They are obliged by their LORD to report on a nation’s sins and the consequences thereof. A watchman does get to speak to His promises, but such promises can be missed by those indignant that anyone would dare to call them out for their iniquities. You could, I suppose, think your postings come from a depressed spirit since you continually call others to self-evaluation and action, but I would typify your postings as the heavy heart of the watchman, just as the prophet Jeremiah expressed. Is not our Father grieved when His own stray far from Him? I have sensed the Father’s joy, His anger, and His sorrow. A faithful watchman will share in this as well.

As Kay Arthur would say (another valiant watchman for the LORD), “Hangeth thou in there”, brother.

    • Hi bert,

Sorry to see you afflicted by Hashimoto’s, too. I think that we need a T-shirt.

I’ve always found my depression to be strange. I’m actually an incredibly optimistic person. But, the ways of the Lord are often hard to fathom.

Thank you for calling me a watchman. I appreciate that. I don’t call myself that because I don’t really feel like I deserve it. I’m a hysterical latecomer with more bark than bite – and halfway out of my mind, at the very least.

The fact that God has used the words that I have written is amazing to me. I am truly grateful that God has used me, and have been blessed by God in so many ways… well, I hardly know what to say.

      God is so incredibly wonderful.

Thank you, Bert. I shall ‘hangeth’ in there.

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

  7. You no longer have to sit on your hands….rescuechristians.org is expanding and needs your time and talents to save the lives of brothers and sisters around the world…set the captives free RIGHT NOW

  8. GOD Bless and heal you John. Over the months that I read your posts I have had many deep understandings revealed especially your view of the Truth of post tribulation. Thank you so much for that. There have been times that I have been triggered to out right rage at some of your viewpoints and I also thank you for that (smile)…..I ask the Lords and your forgiveness for the many times that I was less than kind and forgiving to you. In Spirit and Love…James

    • Hi James,

      Thank you for that.

As you can tell, I’m quite outrageous myself. My wife routinely threatens to take videos of my own outrage when I read something that I don’t like. So, this is something easy to forgive and forget.

I also benefit from having the memory of a goldfish!

Glad to have a fellow iron-sharpener around!

      God bless you, James!

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

  9. ok, now who is FEAR mongering?! your taking verse out of context, that one belongs to the one who was only given ONE talent and did what he did with it. the rest did something, some 30%, some 60% some.. even more. so how bout HELPING those who actually WERE doing things in past, but are now idle ffor whatever reasons, and ENCOURAGING them to resurrect those gifts, talents, and abilities, and start using them. 1st corinthians says that “we”, Christians, will have rewards given AND taken, accorinding to HOW we allowed GOD to work and accomplish HIS will THROUGH us. AND, 2 cor 5:10, For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. fear mongering as to cause those to think they LOSE salvation NEVER works. you don’t lose salvation. JOHN 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

    • Um… Pat, hold your horses.

American Christians have buried their talents in the ground and gone to sleep. My goal is to wake them up and encourage them to use those talents for the benefit of The Body of Christ, and for the glory of God.

I see a distinct parallel between the parable of the talents and the general condition of the church in America.

Why do you call this fear mongering, Pam?

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

  10. John Little,
Blessings on you and your house for your public testimony, and may healing be yours when it is time.

You are right on target when you speak about fear. Rev 21:8 speaks to this, that fear is a great sin. It is the sin that keeps us passive and apathetic, when combined with the ‘doctrines of devils’ that keep us in ‘submission to UNGodly authority’. For where is there a Godly authority on the Earth? There is much pretense of moral authority, but power corrupts after it seduces the heart of men.

The Lord was not passive, he was not weak, he was a warrior… He showed us the Way, the Way of Meek. Meekness has been lost to us, the ancients defined it as; Power under control. Turn the cheek to demonstrate the superior character of the warrior when meeting minor slights of evil, but know to sell the coat and buy a sword, because true evil comes in to all lives.

If the Lord came to fulfill the Law as the Word, then the Lords desire is for justice, and He desires that WE be His hands of righteousness upon the Earth. We were not told to sit on our thumbs in fear and “wait upon The Lord”. That is the Foundation of evil, passive apathy.

    But these are not just my words;
“The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis.”

“All it takes for evil to succeed, is for good men to do nothing.”
    -Edmund Burke

“There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.”
    — Ayn Rand

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].

“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”(Micah 6:8)

“The Lord looked and was displeased that there was no justice. He saw that there was no one, He was appalled that there was no one to intervene.” (Isaiah 59:15-16)

“Blessed are they who maintain justice” (Psalm 106:3)

Time for the Sleepers to Awaken.
    God bless

    • Hi Piper Michael,

Thank you for that. However, please remember that Jesus did not speak against secular authority. When He said “render unto caesar the things that are caesar’s” (Matthew 22:21).

And the verse you quote is Luke 6:29 –

And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.

Yet you claim that this is the way of the warrior. And, I find that comment disturbing. Our warfare is not with the governments of this world, but with Satan and his minions. And, our warfare is not fought with guns and bullets.

So, if you advocate revolution, then count me out. God is not in it.

If you advocate personal self defense, then I believe that you have a case.

Remember that our greatest worry should lie in what God will tell us when we stand before Him. What our government does is nothing by comparison.

      Thank you, Piper.

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

      • I hate it when you do that. Parse the word into little bits and pieces, which is the Way of Darkness, that causes Divisions, Denominations, arguments, apathy, complacency. To say that one verse, or saying, cancels another, or that Paul’s sayings were superior to Jesus’, we have churches based on ‘Pauline’ Christianity, why is that? Because they were deceived from the beginning. The battle of Christ’s, is against materialism, the system, the love of money, the evil of this world in ‘high places’, where is the ‘high’ place? Where is evil attracted to, like moths to a flame? Government and money changing… and, Churches… because these are the places where they gain power over others… the truest manifestation of the power of ‘darkness’. But sadly, the ‘private teachings’ of Jesus were declared a heresy, and were taken from you, so you do not see the true evil as materialism. Thus the chapter and verse of scriptures, conflict, and there is division as a result. This is the way of darkness, to divide, as Jude told you, “evil crept in unawares”.

        So Yes, yes, and yes.
Yes, he was a warrior, in the way of meek, or did you not catch that?
Yes, he was against governments, and money changers, and pharisees, as One System of Materialism, Babylon’s control mechanism that comes down to us in all the empires of the ten lost tribes, it was His last lesson by physically whipping them, and that, was the last straw. Yet preachers think it was a display of weakness, a sin? No. It was His last lesson, to stand up to evil, by being strong, and not AFRAID. The Way of the Meek warrior. (The Meek shall inherit the Earth… )

You guys, always go to the gun, and violence as the opposite of weakness, but you do not understand the Way of the Warrior, you only understand opposites because that is what the Church taught you, a false doctrine that defends The System. When, there is a third way when fighting evil, withdraw, hide in a back room, escape into the wilderness, leave The System, quit using their money and be as lillies in the field. But no, the Preachers preach prosperity, and paying taxes, and getting rich, despite the lesson of the rich man. They teach submission to ‘Godly authority’ when there is no Godly authority on Earth, there is only materialism, the powerful and the powerless.

Materialism is the battle, greed and envy are the tools of evil, meek is the only way to stand up to evil, and yes, that means to kill the evil ones eventually, when, not if, they step over the line. For you define ‘self’ defense as ok, but not defense of your family, your culture, your way of life, your neighbors. You see only the things you want to see by dividing the word, yet you do not have eyes that see. Or you would see that you are His Hands of Justice, as the Old and new Testaments told you. But it is not your fault, you are a victim of the Mother of Harlots whose name is MYSTERY, who rides the Beast of Babylon, the church that rides the animal feelings of men codified into the power beast of governments, and keeps you passive and apathetic to the way of the world, through the ‘doctrines of devils’.

Those who think they must parse scripture, and make pious sounding statements, backed up by chapter and verse, are the dividers, who divide the people of God into materialism, mammon, the god of material things. This is the Way of Knowledge upon the Earth, to divide and categorize everything in to little boxes labeled ‘good’ and ‘bad’. Knowledge is about wisdom, but to be wise, you must know good and evil, in order to defeat the spiritual wickedness in high places.

Thus the Lords prophecy comes true, that He did not come to bring peace, but a sword. the Church is the manifestation of that prophecy. Divided in doctrines of devils, that preach war in the name of God against barbarians. Whether they be, muslim, or asian, or native American… whether Iraqi, or Afghani, or name your ethnic nation, it is us, that divides the world, and makes war on saints, and calls it Christian. When you ‘wait upon the Lord’, you allow evil to thrive. So the terrible troubles in the world cannot be blamed on evil, but, on those good men who have done nothing.

Two thousand years of bloodshed and tears, yet the church and the pious, still, think they are holy? The Age of the Church is done, because they cannot even see evil, they mistake evil, they don’t know what evil is, because they love the evil, the love of money being the root of all evil. We love our kings too, and pretend that they are good, when God told us He did not want us to have kings. How’s all that king stuff working out for us?

Do not take my words as personal, for they are not just for you, but for us… the Deceived and divided ‘modern’ man. The spirit called me to be a witness to the Light, which requires me to point out the darkness, and the deceptions of wealthy men upon the Earth. The ten horns are shofars, of the royals, who wish to regain their thrones, who snare you all in the sweet words on the tongue that turn bitter in the belly, otherwise known as political correctness. Passiveness, being a primary doctrine. There are ways to fight evil without killing. All is lies, and Illusions and there is a third interpretation, the Way of the Ancients, all war is deception.

God bless you brother. My prayers are for you to get better.

        • Hi Piper Michael,

I’m sorry that you feel that I am taking the words of Jesus out of context, which is what you are saying that I am doing. I truly DO understand that the Bible must be taken in context – with itself.

I believe that you are making quite a few logical errors. You are claiming that the Roman Catholic Church is the originator of our way of spiritual thought. This is NOT the case.

During the reign of terror of the Catholic Church, there have always been small churches existing underground, spreading the gospel throughout Europe – while suffering terrible persecution.

And, in the final analysis, we must take the words of the Bible as the only revealed truth. If the Bible says something, we are required to believe it. All that disagrees with the Bible is false. You may call that parsing and whatnot, but it is still The Truth.

Read the Bible, Piper. With the Holy Spirit as our guide, it IS our source of Truth and Godly inspiration.

          Yours in Christ,

          John Little

  11. When I first realized how close we are to the coming tribulation and saw what was happening in the middle east, I was siezed with fear. I was worried I would not be prepared and not have the resourses to take care of my family… After much prayer, God assured me He is enough. As long as I do my part, he will do his. I appreciate your remarks about depression. I suffer with depression and for the longest time I felt condemned. The condemnation came from myself and from my Christian friends. I was beaten to death with the scripture “The Joy of the Lord is strength” and if you are not joyous, you must have a lack of faith. I am an advocate of getting help with depression and not hiding it. There is nothing to be ashamed of and ignoring the problem can be fatal. I appreciate your blog. Keep up the good work.

    • Hi Don McCauley,

God bless you, brother. You understand the battle with depression, and I am so sorry that you are in it. Normal people just cannot understand.

Nor would you want them to understand, otherwise they would have had to go through it themselves.

Then, there are those who have gone through a bout of depression and feel that they are now expert in this affliction, when they have no idea how terrible it is to awaken each day, knowing that it will never end – but, for the grace of God.

The next time someone tries to whack you with that verse on ‘The Joy of the Lord is my strength’, tell them that you DO have joy in the midst of your struggle. Joy isn’t happy dancing and good feelings. It is that confidence that you have that the Lord is with you in the heart of the storm – and will never let you fall.

Keep up the good work brother. There are so many out there suffering terribly, and the fact that you understand means that you can truly be a blessing in their lives.

Again, God bless you, Don. I’m glad that God has led you here.

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

  12. My prayers are with you. Try to remember that whatever problems we have in this world, no matter how dire, are TEMPORARY – as long as we keep the faith. Hang on.

Romans 14:8 For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s.

You have made more friends with this blog than you could possibly know. Someday we will have a reunion in heaven ……..

    • Hi DRG,

Thank you for that brother, and for your prayers. God is sovereign in all things, and I am truly blessed.

And, all the friends that I have made here have been a blessing, as well.

      God bless you, DRG.

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

  13. Thanks John ,are you familiar with Jim Searcy, Great joy In Great tribulation website at moresureword.com Ahuge resource and great and humble man of God I have been listening to for over a decade. Keep up the good work. Dean

  14. Dear John,
Thank you for this website and your passion for truth and your biblical knowledge and insights. I started reading your posts a few months ago and look forward to them and get a lot out of them. I very much support your alerting the church to the tribulation that we will soon be going through. I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate your sharing about your depression. I’ve suffered with it my entire life, and it’s truly the most awful thing that only those who suffer with it can understand. I know God has His reasons for allowing it in my life, and I’ve seen some of the benefits (e.g., deflating pride, realizing I can’t handle life w/o Him), so I thank Him for that. But truly it is terrible, so I want you to know you have my compassion and are in my prayers. God bless you brother.

    • Hi Christine,

One of the reasons why I am so open about my depression is that I know that others need to see that they are not alone. I normally would have shared this struggle sooner, but it just never seemed like it was the right time. (Pretty much everyone in my church knows.)

I am so glad that you have shared that with us. It shows strength, and that has given you the ability to help others less strong. Keep up the good work.

God bless you, Christine. It is great to know that you are a reader.

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

  15. Hi John good article. the money changers found out a long time ago that a little poison goes along way in the royal scam. I have zero faith in modern medicine because it plays right into the scam. my father inlaw and brother inlaw are surgeons. they go to classes every year to maintain their licenses. the classes are put on by big pharma. that’s fascism! big scam. most of the white man’s food is poison. just read the labels. gmo’s are satanic. check out Damien’s job in the omen movies. what i’m getting at is God’s medicine is the only true medicine that “cures”. the rest treat symptoms. most people eat poison. then take more in the form of bogus magik pills from big pharma. olive oil is medicine. anti bacterial, anti fungal, anti viral. lots of other good oils as well. as long as they are organic and cold pressed. probiotics are another thing that most people lack. a healthy gi track makes up over 80% of our immune sys. my father inlaw told me the appendix serves no purpose. then he repeated it. I believe the appendix is a storeroom for healthy bacteria for when we get sick and need it. God doesn’t make useless organs. just like the so called junk dna. most science is total bs. vain babblings is what the Bible says. pasteurization is another scam. most people are vitamin d deficient, and causes problems. eat natural food, no chemicals(witchcraft). use the net to study natural cures while we can. breaks my heart to see my family poison their kids with the white man’s foods and meds. google big pharma co.s and then go to images. you will see their black magik in their logos. also Israel is another interesting subject. the real Jews were kicked out of Israel for worshipping the devil. I never heard a preacher tell me that. the women were weeping for tamuz and the men were doing evil in the sight of the Lord in the temple( black magik). who are these ahkenazi in Israel today? are they kazars? the kazars come from the Ukraine. funny how Ukraine is in the news. book of Revelation speaks lots of fake jews. lots of debauchery going on in the modern state of Israel(formed by rothchilds bankers). I don’t see many real Christians either in the ole usa. most churches have satanic symbols all over them, and they celebrate satanic holidays(cristmas and easter etc.). they do what the preacher says instead of what the Word of God says. I also have fear issues. so I really appreciate your blog. I used to go to the episcopal church because my wife’s family went there. totally corrupt. lgbt preachers(heshes giving sermons).

  16. I did not know God .. but now I do. I did not know where sin came from .. but now I do. I did not appreciate nor understand the role and significance and sacrifice of Jesus Christ … but now I do. I used to fear death and resented getting old … but now I don’t. Wars and threat of disease used to scare me … but now they don’t. I did not realize what the point of life was …. but now I do. I did not know who I really was nor where I belonged …. but now I do. It is all to do with God. It is all to do with an incredible Love. It is all to do with an amazingly big picture which is far beyond the limits of our current and mortal way of thinking. God is so very very real. He is amazing! We are part of something truly and wonderfully significant and all I want to do is shout God’s love and reality from the rooftops. Trauma and depression drove me to an attempted suicide on 10 January 2012. I drank of a lethal chemical … and it all became dark. You mentioned John Little that ”The Lord is with us in the heart of the storm and that He will never let us fall.” These words of yours are ”alive and well”. He caught me when I fell. He caught me in my near death. I woke up in His Arms to the sound of His voice calling my name. When he calls your name you are never the same. He said “Gerhard…. You should not have been through all of this…. I love you, I love you… You are saved.” I went down on my knees infront of Him and cried “Thank you God!” ”Thank You God!” over and over. He picked me up from the floor and drew me to Him. He then cradled and comforted me while I wept and sobbed not only for the regret and sadness of my life but for the absolute relief and joy to now ”know” that God is REAL. He calmed me and then continued to speak about emotion and said “Gerhard, I so love your emotions … because your emotions and mine are the same” (meaning His emotions and those of His Children are the same) . I asked Him ”Lord. How is this possible? How is this possible that You are here with me?” and He answered “But of course Gerhard … We are ONE”. He told me not to worry about the things of the world anymore and that I should just “Leave the Light on.” I cannot possibly describe in words what it is like to experience the presence and love of God. I can just say that His love is a wonderful force that unites us together ”as one” and catches us in the blooms of absolute Mercy and Grace so that we don’t fall. I have no more fear anymore and I can’t wait to go. Life and even death itself are our servants and God is our inheritance. If only people knew what they were chosing and what they could be losing. I am eternally thankful to God. God is our KING to the Universe! He is our FATHER and our Super Daddy and I am so proud of Him and love Him with all my heart. We are members of a Holy Royal Family. I now read the Bible and I relate my experience to Isaiah 43 which reads … “Fear not, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by name; You are Mine.” He has an Amazing Love for you John Little. He loves your passion and your emotion and the self-confidence that you have in Him. Thus ”Fear not” for ”You are HIS.”

  17. John, I commend you for disclosing your ailment to your readers. With thyroid ailments potentially inducing depression, it is imperative that sufferers of thyroid diseases maintain a positive and hopeful outlook on life. An awareness of the disturbing events happening around the world could definitely lead to depression regardless of a contributing physical ailment to those who have no faith in God as an anchor of hope. But, even for those of us who have put our trust in Christ, we risk becoming hopeless and apathetic because we see current events as inevitable, being determined as foretold in Bible prophecy.
But, my friend, for you to use Matthew 24:21 to inform us, your readers, about what is soon to happen, could be a misapplication of Scripture. I humbly challenge you, and all your readers, to start reading at Matthew 23 to put Jesus’ whole discourse in its proper context. Since the comments are limited to 300 words, I cannot elaborate, but if you put aside your presuppositions about the “end-times”, and carefully read the text starting at Matthew 23, you will see that all the predictions Jesus made in the Olivet Discourse were to be fulfilled in THAT generation, NOT ours (Mat. 23:36).
In Mat. 24:3, the disciples connected the destruction of the temple that then stood, and which Jesus had just finished telling them would be leveled, with the sign of His coming (notice that they needed a sign to show that Jesus had, in fact “come”), and the end of the world/age. The KJV uses “world”, but the Greek word “aion” is better translated, “age”. Now, the question that must be answered is, what “age” would the disciples be concerned about coming to an end, and they linked with Christ’s coming and with the destruction of the temple? The New Covenant Age will never end, and that’s the time we’re living in. If you think the events in question weren’t connected, and were to happen in different periods of history separated by thousands of years, where does Scripture validate that view?
I submit this not intending to be contentious, but, what if the “end-times” spoken of in the Bible are not speaking about a literal end of the physical world, or even an end of human history, but were actually speaking about the end of the Old Covenant Age of Israel and the introduction of the world-wide, eternal age of the New Covenant and Kingdom of God?

    • Hi Steve,

Thank you for your kind words about my depression and hypothyroidism. Our hope is in the Lord, and I rest in that hope.

As for your point about Matthew 23, I’m afraid that you are in grave error.

Luke 21 gives a different view of the same discourse, and it is completely clear that Jesus was NOT speaking about just the events of 70AD. Put Luke 21 together with Mark 13 and Matthew 24, and it is clear that the Tribulation WILL be coming – and that it will be the worst period of time in human history.

Furthermore, Jesus made it clear that the ‘rapture’ would happen AFTER this tribulation – in Matthew 24 and Mark 13.

Steve, this is a false hope that you are teaching, and this false hope is doing grave harm to the Body of Christ.

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

      • Unfortunately John, Luke 21 does nothing to refute my previous post. Read Luke 21:5-7. Again, the topic is the destruction of the temple that was then standing. The temple that the Jewish nation centered around and which stood as a testimony that they were the covenant people of God. But, that covenant was about to come to an end and make way for the New and better Covenant.
Luke 21:5-7 “And as some SPAKE OF THE TEMPLE, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, He said, (6) As for THESE THINGS WHICH YE BEHOLD, the days will come, in the which there shall NOT BE ONE STONE LEFT UPON ANOTHER, THAT SHALL NOT BE THROWN DOWN. (7) And they asked Him, saying, Master, but WHEN SHALL THESE THINGS BE? and WHAT SIGN will there be WHEN THESE THINGS SHALL COME TO PASS?
Jesus then tells them what to watch for. In verse 22 He tells them,”For THESE (the days in which they were living) BE THE DAYS OF VENGEANCE, that ALL THINGS THAT ARE WRITTEN (in the Law of Moses and the Prophets) MAY BE FULFILLED.
In verse 32 Jesus tells them “Verily I say unto YOU (not us), THIS GENERATION (the people standing there listening to Him) SHALL NOT PASS PASS AWAY, TILL ALL BE FULFILLED.
I commend you for exposing the error of a pre-tribulation rapture. That was the first error I discovered on my quest to properly understand eschatology. I’m not sure why you brought that up in your reply to my original post, but I agree that those first century believers had to go through the great tribulation before they met the Lord in the air.
Again, I’m not trying to stir up trouble, but you have a popular website, and there are literally thousands of Christian websites teaching that we are living in the Biblical end-times, and using Bible verses, particularly Mat. 24 and Luke 21, and applying the signs that would point to the first century destruction of Jerusalem, signs meant for first century believers, to us.
Also, let me be clear, I do believe that we are currently living in perilous times. I do believe much of the world is in a state of reaping what has been sown for the last hundred years and the results will be catastrophic. But, I do not believe Matthew 24 or Luke 21 can justifiably be speaking of anything other than the events which took place leading up to the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D.

        • Hi Steve,

          So, when Jesus said…

And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. – Luke 21:24

…He was just having a bit of fun?

That verse is two thousand years long. It begins in 70AD and it ends in 1967.

          Then, there’s this:

And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. – Luke 21:27

Are you going to tell me that THIS verse is about 70AD, also?

Steve, please take a closer look at the words of Jesus. Your interpretation has left you powerless and unprepared for what is coming. And if you are teaching this to others, their blood will be upon your hands, when you stand before the Lord (Ezek 3). I would not want you to suffer that.

          Yours in Christ,

          John Little
