I don’t get a chance to write much that’s positive, these days. This is the darkest period in human history, and it will only get darker – until this era ends with the coming of Jesus Christ in glory and power. But, there is one bright spot that you should know about.
His name is Israel Kligler, and he is one of the most important men to live during the 20th century. And, you never heard of him.
Well, I’m about to change that. And, when I’m done, you’ll see God’s hand at work and understand a little more about God’s plan for Israel in these Last Days.

Israel Kligler – An Unsung Hero Used by God
It infuriates me when people talk about how awful Israel is. It shows a colossal ignorance and an evil heart. Having lived there for fifteen years, I know what Israel is really like and the challenges she faces. And, I know the lies.
One of those lies is that the Jewish people have been a curse to the Middle East. And, I can tell you that NOTHING could be further from the truth. Millions upon millions of Arabs owe their lives and their standard of living to the Jews of the Middle East, and they should be grateful. And, one of those Jews that they should feel gratitude towards is a man born in 1888, named Israel Kligler.
Land of Israel – 1920s
When he arrived in 1920, the Land of Israel was a place where nine out of ten children died of malaria. Ninety percent of British soldiers stationed in the north came down with malaria within ten days. Death from malaria was so endemic that the population stayed under 300 thousand for centuries. The Land of Israel was a place that you went to die. But, all of that was before Dr. Kligler.
Once Israel Kligler started his malaria eradication project, the population began to revitalize. The Arab population doubled and parents no longer had to bury their children. And, no one has ever heard of Dr. Kligler.
So, why do I say that he was used by God?
The Fly Of Isaiah 7
It starts with something that God promised to do in response to Israel’s sin:
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.
– Isaiah 7:18
The fly that the Lord was going to bring into the Land of Israel was no normal fly. Here is what wikipedia says about mosquitoes:
Mosquitoes are members of a family of nematocerid flies: the Culicidae (from the Latin culex, genitive culicis, meaning “midge” or “gnat”). The word “mosquito” (formed by mosca and diminutive ito) is from the Spanish or Portuguese for “little fly”. Superficially, mosquitoes resemble crane flies (family Tipulidae) and chironomid flies (family Chironomidae); as a result, casual observers seldom realize the important differences between the members of the respective families.
That’s right, the mosquito is a fly, the fly that God promised to decimate the population of all who lived in the Land of Israel – until it was time to make ready for the Children of Israel to return.
The Return Of Israel
In the Book of Ezekiel, God referred to the Land of Israel as a place that devoured men and bereaved nations. But, when the Land was ready for the return of the Children of Israel, He said:
Yea, I will cause men to walk upon you, even my people Israel; and they shall possess thee, and thou shalt be their inheritance, and thou shalt no more henceforth bereave them of men. Thus saith the Lord God; Because they say unto you, Thou land devourest up men, and hast bereaved thy nations: Therefore thou shalt devour men no more, neither bereave thy nations any more, saith the Lord God. – Ezekiel 36:12-14
So, let me ask you a question:
What was it that caused the Land of Israel to devour men and bereave the nations?
Dr. Israel Kligler knew exactly what it was:
Malaria
It was the single largest obstacle to the return of the Jewish people to the Land that they were promised. Only after Malaria was defeated could the Nation of Israel become what it was prophesied to be.
And God used a humble man, of humble stature and humble origins to work a miracle.
For Those Who Are Anti-Zionism
Now there are a few of you who point to the sinfulness of Israel as a reason why the Israel of today cannot be the Israel prophesied in Ezekiel. So, let me offer this key passage:
For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. – Ezekiel 36:24-26
Only AFTER the Jews return to the Land of Israel… only after… will they be made clean. Those of you who expect Israel to be clean and sinless are not reading their Bible. Worse, those of you who have taken a step further and are anti-zionism… well, you are in opposition to God’s plan.
Let me say this again:
If you are anti-zionism, you oppose God.
You cannot read Ezekiel 36, 37, 38 and 39 and be against the return of the Jewish people to Israel – which is the definition of Zionism. For those of you who read this and persist in their opposition to God’s plan, you are in rebellion.
Rebellion
God has this to say about rebellion:
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king. – 1 Samuel 15:23
If you rebel against God, it is like the practice of Satanism in the eyes of God.
If this is you, I pray that you will repent of this wickedness, before it is too late.
Are You Ready For A Miracle?
God used an unlikely man from an unlikely place to change a poisonous land and make it ready for the fulfillment of prophesy. Dr. Kligler didn’t seem like much of a man, but God has a way of taking a small life and working miracles.
