The Shock Plan for Getting Ready – Scenarios

We have now reached the point where the answer to the preparation question, is ‘it depends’. Each one of you is different. Each of you has different abilities and challenges. Each of you has a different responsibility. Each of you has a different calling from God. And, that means that how you respond to disaster will be different.

Furthermore, there is more than one disaster coming our way. The financial disaster that looms over us is just the first of many. We have the very real possibility of an EMP attack, or a strike by a Solar Flare. Resource scarcity has already begun to bite, even though we don’t notice it yet. And, it appears that the possibility of apocalyptic natural disaster is somewhere, just over the horizon. The possibility of these events requires us to think in terms of scenarios.

I want to go through a number of scenarios to give you an idea of what you’re up against, and what it will take to survive – as I understand them. Please remember that I’m speaking as a mid-forties guy without kids, living abroad with a financial background and an MBA – and no debts. A plumber with seven kids and a mortgage will have a different situation.

Scenario 1 – Financial Collapse

As a guy with a background in business and finance, I still find it hard to believe how bad things are financially. Never in the history of mankind have we ever been in this much financial trouble. And, I literally mean NEVER. IN. HUMAN. HISTORY.

It truly is the most amazing thing, and when it all finally falls apart it will… destroy everything. It will all stop. It will all fall apart. People will get angry and desperate, and people will die. Lots of them.

And, it will start in the cities.

I talk about financial collapse a lot because the cash in your wallet and line of credit on your card are what keep societies functioning. When all of that stops, the food stops. The electricity and water stop. The trucks stop. The gas stations stop. Everything stops.

Now, it doesn’t mean that everything stops forever, but when everything stops it will take a long time to restart. You will want to be in the right place at the right time to ride out the coming storm – so that you are able to survive and get back to some form of normality after the ‘restart’.

It is my understanding that the banks and the government are already planning for this ‘restart’, or reset. The thing is that they aren’t telling you about it because they don’t want you to be spooked. They want to keep their power and their jobs. Your survival is well down their list of priorities.

If you followed me yesterday, you already have your money out of the bank – except for that which you need to pay your bills. So, we don’t need to talk about that. But, we still need to talk about what to look for and what to do, when a collapse happens.

Please remember that the collapse of the dollar will happen very quickly. It will probably start overseas. It will probably start with Japan and the failure of the Japanese bond market. But, it could start elsewhere, like Europe.

If you see a collapse happening overseas, watch carefully as it spreads. Think about what you need to do to finalize your survival plans. Buy a little extra at the supermarket. Have a full tank of gas in the car. Be ready for an ‘impromptu’ weekend vacation – taking everything with you.

This is especially important for those of you living within a city of 100,000 or more. Those of you living in the suburbs may have more time to respond, but don’t test that too far.

My understanding is that DHS and FEMA plan to cordon off areas of social unrest until the violence and mayhem burn themselves out. That’s great for those on the right side of the security barrier, but it will be hellish for those of you trying to live through it. You do NOT want to be caught in the wrong place, at the wrong time.

The next question is about how long a financial collapse will last. We have never faced as bad a situation as we face now. It could take months. It could take years. There is a part of me that expects that we will never recover.

Whatever happens, do not expect to see your home again. So, please start thinking about handling that situation. I strongly advise everyone to sell your homes and start renting. You must be ready and able to leave everything behind.

The fact that it makes financial sense to sell your home and rent… well, that’s beside the point.

And, how will you know that the financial collapse has finally arrived?

The banks will be closed.

Unfortunately, they’ll lie to you about WHY the banks have been closed. It is NOT in their best interest to tell you why all this is happening. They WILL lie to you – and smile while they do it. So, expect them to use any and all possible excuses.

I’ve heard word that a system-wide ‘virus attack’ will be the most likely excuse for calling a ‘bank holiday’. But, it could be anything. Just remember that if you see banks closed when they should be open, a financial collapse might be underway.

72 Hours

I’ve talked about this before, and I will keep talking about it. Once a collapse begins, you have 72 hours to get to the place that you have set aside to ride out the storm. Remember also that the longer you go into that 72 hour period, the harder it will be to extract yourself from wherever you are.

Scenario 2 – EMP or Z-Class Solar Flare

There are differences between an EMP attack and a Solar Flare. In an EMP attack, all sophisticated and unshielded electronics will be destroyed, as well as the electricity to power them. A Solar Flare will probably only take down the power grid. Also, a Solar Flare will only be dangerous if it strikes your side of the Earth – which means it must happen during the daytime. An EMP attack is NOT so constrained.

So, if you wake up one morning and the radio doesn’t work, the TV doesn’t work, the car doesn’t start and the power is off… get your emergency gear and start walking to your secure location – immediately. You will still be under that 72 hour time limit that I talked about in Scenario 1, but now you’re on foot.

A Z-Class Solar Flare will hopefully be somewhat different. It is believed that only the power grid will go down, so your car should work – although, there’s quite a bit of theory and hope involved here. Hopefully, your car will still run, increasing your chance of getting away from the city. Just remember that the roads will become clogged very quickly.

By the way, when I talk about a ‘Solar Flare’, the danger isn’t with the flare. It’s the Coronal Mass Ejection, or CME, that’s the dangerous part. A CME travels much slower than light and often takes hours to reach Earth. Hopefully, you will have some time to react.

Scenario 3 – Natural Disaster

Volcanoes, Forest Fires, Hurricanes, Typhoons and Epidemics all come with some form of forewarning. Those who have evaluated the risks and proper responses ahead of time will react properly and quickly – without panic.

Panic will get you killed.

In all these cases, a quick response is vital. ANY delay will cause you to run into traffic that might leave you even more vulnerable to the disaster you are seeking to avoid.

Again, never, EVER act in panic. That’s another reason why you need a plan.

Scenario N

There are many, many possible scenarios out there, and this ‘guide’ isn’t meant to handle them. The goal is to get you started on the process of thinking through what may, or may not, happen – and prepare accordingly.

Your Plan

Having a plan will literally make the difference between life and death. Anyone and everyone who has ever faced catastrophe, or is in the business of facing it will tell you the same. Ask any nurse or doctor in an emergency room. Ask a combat veteran.

You must have a plan, and you must practice that plan. If you can make it fun and interesting for your family, all the better. But, always make sure that your family knows what the plan is. Disaster often strikes in ways that keep you from communicating effectively. A preset, well-worked plan will save you from that.

And please, have a sense of humor about all this. I know that the story is grim, and the whole process is completely insane. But, do NOT allow yourself to be taken down with it.

Laugh at the grim humor of it all.

Our Hope

Many have said that you cannot go more than three months without hope. Some can go longer. Some can go less. But, none of us can do without it for long. That’s why you must set your sights on the only hope there is… Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

We have that hope and rest in Him.

So, go about the business of working through all this with the knowledge that our God has a plan, too. And you have a place in that plan.

I almost feel sorry for the opposition. There’s just no way they can win, and they don’t even know it.

God bless you all.

May the Lord keep you and hold you close.
