This Season of Prophecy

Are you reading your Bible?

Chances are that you aren’t, and that’s really too bad because you stopped before you got to the part of the Bible that describes what is happening right now.

You read that right. We are living in times that were described more than 2,500 years ago. And, you’re missing it. No… worse than that… you are completely unprepared for what is coming.

For those of you who ARE reading your Bible every day, congratulations. You’ve made it this far, and you deserve a pat on the back, a round of applause and a nice big bacon cheeseburger. You’re probably reading from the One Year Bible, which always starts the Book of Isaiah on September 9. So, I’ve decided to call the 9th of September the beginning of the Season of Prophecy for the One Year Bible.

That was yesterday, Sunday, and it started off with a bang:

Therefore saith the Lord, the Lord of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies: And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin: And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city. Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.Isaiah 1:24-27

Would you believe that this hasn’t happened yet?

THIS is in Israel’s future. It’s good, but it starts out bad. Oh… and look out. Far worse comes to the rest of the world. Far worse.

The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.Isaiah 2:1-4

That was yesterday. Today, you would have read this:

In that day shall the branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel. And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem: When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.Isaiah 4:2-4

But, here is the most important bit. And, you would have read it today:

Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.Isaiah 5:13

Are you listening?

Because we Christians have descended into sinfulness, we have recreated the last days of Israel before THEY went into captivity. What happened to them is about to happen to us. The pattern repeats itself.

God’s people are going into captivity because they have no knowledge.

Read your Bible.

It just might save your life.
