God Loves the Land of Israel

And, I have no idea why.

Why is it that God loves such a tiny place on the map?

Why does He choose THAT place above all others?

Now, some of you read your Bible and would probably point to the one place in the Land of Israel that God loves most of all.

Jerusalem.

But, that doesn’t make sense, either. It’s not the tallest hill in Israel. In fact, it’s surrounded by hills that are more than 50 meters taller. It’s not the prettiest hill. It’s not the greenest. In fact, there’s nothing that you can point to that indicates anything special about the place.

Except, the Bible.

Do a search of the Bible. Look up all the verses that mention Jerusalem. In the King James Version, you will find 767 references. Here’s a link to the search results:

Do a search for the word ‘Israel’. Here’s what you get:

You saw that right. Two thousand three hundred and eighteen references.

Okay, I know that finding lots of references to something in the Bible doesn’t mean that God loves that ‘something’. (God does NOT have a special love for the word ‘the’.) But, take a moment to look at some of those verses. What do they tell you?

They tell you that God claims the Land of Israel, and He loves it more than any other place in the Universe. And, if God loves a place THAT much, is it safe to treat that place with indifference?

No. In fact, it’s a very dangerous thing to ignore that which God loves. Very dangerous.

And, let’s not forget the Children of Israel.

Yes, yes, I know that we, as Christians, are heirs of the same promise through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. But, we have NOT replaced Israel. Read Romans 11, but concentrate on this passage:

25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

What does that ‘fulness‘ mean?

πλήρωμα plērōma

It means completion or repletion – filled up.

Remember this verse:

Luke 21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

See that word, ‘fulfilled‘?

πληρόω plēroō

Yeah. It’s the verb form of the same word. To be more precise, pleroo is the root of pleroma.

Guess what happened on June 7, 1967?

Jerusalem was captured by Israel.

Okay, this article threatens to get very long, so let me cut to the chase:

Pay close attention to Israel. Love the Land of Israel, and love the Children of Israel.

If you do not, then you will miss an important piece in this puzzle that is ‘The Last Days’. Missing important pieces of ‘The Last Days’ is a very, very dangerous thing to do. Very dangerous.
