Well, since I’m sitting here in my hospital room, disconnected from the rest of the world, it has given me the opportunity to reflect more on WHY things are happening, not just WHAT is happening. Why things are happening is a common thread that winds its way through all of my posts, but it is rarely the raison d’etre of the post itself.
So, let’s reflect a bit on the WHY of it all. Why is it that all this is happening now?
Why is it that we are seeing a spike in earthquakes?
Why do we see Russia coming together to recreate a more efficient version of the USSR?
Why is Iran building nuclear weapons and seeking to destroy the foundations of the modern world?
Why is it that the world finds itself teetering on the brink of utter destruction?
The best answer that I can give you is that I really don’t know.
Yes, I have a few ideas, but they’re not going to be especially satisfying because they come from the bible. Really. I really don’t think that there is any other way to explain the madness afflicting the world, except through the bible. I actually wish that I could explain it some other way, because then it would mean that the really bad stuff that the bible says is coming is for another day, another time, another generation.
Have there been times of political upheaval? Yes.
Is this the first time that a northern nation threatens the free world? Of course not.
Is this the first time that the world seems to teeter on the brink of utter destruction? A big NO to that too.
Is this the first time that we’ve seen a spike in the number and severity of earthquakes? Nope.
But, answer me this. Are we not the first generation to see the uniting of Jerusalem under the power and authority of the people of Israel – the ones that God promised that He would bring back to their land, and that this return would mark the beginning of the end?
Isn’t this the first time in two thousand years that the Jewish people truly have their own homeland? In the ancestral lands of their forefathers?
Yes, it really is the first time, and yes we really are the generation that saw the return of ALL Jerusalem to the hands of her people.
And YES, it really is the first time that we have seen these factors come together to create what we are seeing today.
We are rapidly approaching the very last day. Are you ready?
