Twisting the Bible – Part 5 – Do You Love God?

After looking at what I’ve said up to this point, I wondered about what I should say next. The world is full of examples of how NOT to do something. In fact, I am even an example foolishness and bad behavior. Just ask my poor, long-suffering wife.

So, I thought that I would ask you a question and talk about a man that I respect a lot – Pastor David Lankford. Having heard his willingness to restrict himself to what the Bible actually says, I am confident that this is a man who is a living, breathing example of someone who loves God.

Do you love God?

Twisting the Bible – Part 5 – Do You Love God?

I love my wife. There is no person, being or thing that I love more – except God. In fact, I tell everyone that my wife is the second-best thing that has EVER happened to me.

And, when you love someone that much, what that person wants… that person gets. (And yes, I am lucky to be married to a woman who is wise with money.)

Is that how you feel about God?

If God wants something from you…

Are you going to give it to Him?

And, there is one thing that He wants more than any other:

Your Love

He wants you to love Him. And, He wants that because it is good for you. In fact, you will not escape the evil plans of Satan, unless you love God more than anything – or anyone – else.

You Must Love God

Please, let me emphasize this:

IF you do not love God with every fiber of your being, you will NOT escape what is coming.

You MUST love God. You MUST.

And… when you love someone that much, what they say and what they write and how they write is fantastically important. In fact, how they are doing and what they are doing are of consuming interest.

If they are sad, you are sad. If they are happy, you are happy. If they want to go somewhere, you will find yourself wanting the same thing.

God is perfect, and you will NEVER need to worry that what He wants will be too much for you. His love is perfect and will NEVER betray you. You will NEVER find yourself regretting ANYTHING that He tells you.

So, why aren’t you reading his letters to you?

Your spiritual inbox is full of letters from God, and it’s sitting on your desk.

Do you treasure what it says?

We are in the most dangerous time in the history of mankind. Satan has prepared layer upon layer of deception, and YOU are the target. And your ONLY defense is the words of God, in partnership with the Holy Spirit.

Of course, that only works for children of God – those of you who have accepted the sacrifice of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. For those of you who don’t and won’t… there is no hope for you.

Accept Jesus As Your Lord And Savior

Please, acknowledge your sins and repent of them. Acknowledge the fact that you are not able to redeem yourself. Acknowledge the fact that you will never be free of your faults and sinful behavior without God. So, confess your sins and acknowledge your inability to do anything for them.

Then accept Jesus as God, who took on the form of a man. Accept Him as one who died to give you Life, who loves you more than even His own creation. Accept His death in place of your own. And accept His forgiveness of you.

God bless you brother or sister, if you have done that.

Now, go and read His love letter that we call The Bible.

Pastor David Lankford

One person that I am convinced who knows the Love of God, is Pastor David Lankford. Last night, I was listening to him, and Steve Quayle, on the Hagmann & Hagmann Report, and I was impressed – yet again – that this was a man who loves the Lord, reads The Bible, and will not twist the words of God.

For those of you who want to listen to the same program, go here:

You can also download the MP3, here:

You can also listen via this player, here:

I am impressed by any man who discovers a truth in the Bible that disagrees with what he previously believed, and chooses the truth – no matter what the cost. And Pastor Lankford stood for the truth, even though others in his denomination turned against him.

God bless you brother. You are a man worth listening to.

I pray that we would all be men and women worth listening to. But, we will never get there by twisting the words of the Bible.

We have a great enemy who seeks our death and our eternal destruction. But, Satan cannot win if we hold God close and revere His words without twisting them.

May we all be ready, when the time comes.

Are you ready for this?

  1. John,

Agree with everything you say although I can’t speak to David Lankford as I’ve never heard of the man nor listened to him.

In this latest installment you had me up to the point where you say, “Please, acknowledge your sins and repent of them.” Taken in context that sentence is directed to UNBELIEVERS and as an UNBELIEVER it is impossible to “repent of your sins” as you are a depraved human being and cannot. Which ones would you repent of anyway since there are so many in your past? Some? All? You would spend the rest of your life repenting of your sins before you are saved.

If you need to repent of your sins to be saved then please show me in the King James Bible where it says “repent of your sins” or words to that effect. Hint: You cannot.

The only thing an UNBELIEVER CAN DO is to “repent ye, and believe the gospel” (Mark 1:15). The only thing someone NEEDS TO DO is to accept the free gift of salvation offered by God through the Lord Jesus Christ…Acts 16:30, 31… “And brought them out, and said, what must I do to be saved? And they said, BELIEVE on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” See also John 3:16, John 3:18, John 3:36 and John 6:47.

Please be careful. To say that someone needs to “repent of their sins” to be saved is works salvation and a false doctrine.

    • Hi Tom M.,

How can a person recognize a NEED for salvation if they do not recognize that they are sinners?

Repentance is an integral part of the salvation process and it is EVERYWHERE. To not acknowledge your sinfulness and turn away from it makes no sense whatsoever.

So, you MUST repent. Without it, there can be no salvation. Must you ferret out every sin that you have committed and say that you are sorry?

      Of course not.

I’m not sure why you are making an issue of this. Our salvation is but a first step in a LIFE of repentance.

      Yours in Christ

  2. Hi John! I don’t remember how I found your site (maybe thru Steve?) but am glad I did. Because of you I read my bible daily, especially the scriptures you point out; I have a question for you… I started by reading Revelations 1st, then Genesis but after reaching the 28th (chapter?) I thought maybe reading the words of Jesus would be more pertinent at this time so I switched to the New Testament and have made it to Luke so far.
My question is: did I make a mistake by jumping ahead instead of reading the Old Testament 1st or will I miss too much of Jesus’s meaning by skipping it? I’d appreciate your advise on this and may God continue to bless you & yours… L

    • Hi Lonnie,

Glad to have you aboard, and I feel honored that consider me an inspiration for reading your Bible.

Being the plodding person that I am, I will be horrified that anyone would ‘jump about’ in the Bible. But, please remember that I’m a grumpy ‘stick in the mud’ who considers an impromptu trip to the supermarket a shocking adventure.

You should read the Bible in the way that is appropriate to you. ‘Jumping about’ is fine. However, I recommend the One Year series, because it DOES take you through the Bible, but also gives you a part from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs – each day.

Glad to see you read the precious words of God, Lonnie. God bless you.

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

  3. Another brother in Christ who seems to be straying away from solid doctrine is Alex Jones whose website Infowars and Prison Planet have been publishing several anti Semitic articles lately. I too have written to them, and have received no answer.

    • Hi Willard Aztec,

I see the chief culprit as this Paul Joseph Watson, who is a raving antisemite. But, I too have seen this rising anti-zionism with Alex. I just hope that it’s a temporary thing.

      Thank you, Willard. Good point.

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

  4. I love the fact that you will write letters to people, before you write about them. The truth is we all miss the mark and we, in the spirit of meekness, try to help one another.. restoration is the goal. You see a person can be right in his heart but wrong in our head.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the BLOOD of Christ cleanses us from all sin. Praise God.

Please allow me to define SIN just as a reminder. The Church talks about adultery fornication drunkenness homosexuality, and this is what is emphasized But there are other sins there are as bad, but not ever talked about. Sin to a real believer is anything that is not of faith is sin. In fact hold on to your seat, Matt 5-37 – But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
    To be continued.

  5. John,

Every time I see or here some one say they Love Yahweh(God), be it Mormon, Baptist, JW, Catholic, etc., I always ask them why then dont they follow John 14:15 and many other similar verses in Scripture.

  6. continued

for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

Here is something that is worse then all these sins and the punishment is worse to, now look at this Scripture are you ready for this ?

Matt 11-22 – But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee. yes doing this is worse then sodomy. and this is never talked about.

Bro in my humble opinion, its not our job to separate the wheat from the chaff. REMEMBER let them grow together.

As the body of Christ we need to first learn to take the beam out of our own eye. Please Bro consider this, what was Stephen’s attitude while the rocks aimed at him were in the air? Now compare that attitude with the attitude we get from most pulpits these days. God’s love is often talked about but seldom demonstrated. For love never fails.

    • Hi Pocamp,

I’m not sure what you are trying to say.

If you are telling to not warn the Body of Christ when heresy enters the church… then we would not be able to read anything written by Paul, or spoken by Jesus.

My job is to warn, otherwise the blood of the innocent would be upon my own head – Ezekiel 3:18.

Thank you, Pocamp. I appreciate your admonition. I do this very, very rarely and with great reluctance.

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

  7. EXCELLENT QUESTION, John!! And, the first and very one I asked myself when the LORD God revealed Himself to me. My initial answer, back at “our” beginning: No, not really.

Why not, one would immediately ask. Why didn’t I love God? Answer: Because I did NOT Know Him. So, I set about reading His Word and learning about Him.

He dazzled me!! Stars in my eyes, bells ringing, music rising to soaring heights, the whole picture of romance! I was entranced by His excellencies. Want to guess what I found most extraordinary?? His sense of Justice and Legality! Odd, no? But nonetheless, it is those attributes of His that we will soon learn to appreciate in fullness.

Do I love the LORD God now??? Absolutely, unequivocally, and completely. His Word is Truth. His Statutes and Ordinances are perfection. His Justice is absolute. I tremble at the mention of His Name, and quake with both fear and anticipation at knowing Him in totality.

  8. Sorry John, I did not mean to come off that way. I feel your love for the body of Christ. Its less about you and more about the attitude that we all sometimes display.

You took the time to write these guys to get clarity on the subject. To me that shows that you care. My point is, well let me show you the story of Noah, remember how he was caught in a bad situation and his sons did every thing they could to cover his shame, I just think we need to be careful to cover our brothers, not just expose them.

  9. I think you did good job in not just showing them that they were wrong, but also showing them the remedy from the scriptures. In a clear and humble way.

Bro, I just think about Stephen and how he was able to forgive even while the hail of stones tore into is body, and yes they were heretics that stoned him. I just don’t think I could do that myself I don’t want to be a good stone thrower. My prayer for all of us is not to be good stone throwers but instead all of us be good at pouring OIL.

Just think if Noah was caught doing that today, There would be radio shows on him Books written blogs going crazy exposing is drunkenness. Old Walter Martin would of had a field day with him.. I just think we need to learn to cover not just expose..

  10. I went to that link for the Lankford interview, and saw that it’s 3 hours. I will NEVER have that kind of time in the foreseeable future – so what was the truth he found that contradicted what his denomination had taught?

  11. John,

I truly believe we are on the same page about repentance and salvation but we must be very careful when we use the words ‘repent’ and ‘sin’ in the same sentence. Too many times I’ve seen and heard of unsaved people, after hearing the phrase “repent of your sins”, think they need to make a lifestyle change (give up drink, fornication, etc.) FIRST in order to be saved to which we both know is not correct.

As you succinctly said in your response, “Must you ferret out every sin that you have committed and say that you are sorry? Of course not.”, to which I totally agree. However, to the unsaved most do not understand what biblical repentance truly is which is simply acknowledging that you are a sinner before God; changing your mind about sin some might say.

I guess I make a big point about this because there are many, many people out there in the highways and hedges telling people that if they “repent of their sins” (unsaved translation: “make a lifestyle change”) then they will be saved. Unfortunately, those people are likely on their way to hell when they pass from this world and will be the ones described in Matthew 7:21-23 standing before the Lord saying, “Lord, Lord…”

I’m to the point now where when witnessing to someone I will not even use the word “repent” or the term “turn from your sins”. I simply show them in the Bible where they are a sinner before God (Romans 3:10, 3:23) and tell them they need to acknowledge that they are a sinner as the first step in the path towards salvation.

Keep up the good work John. I recently found your site and enjoy it very much.

  12. Big fan of pastor Lankford also. I have heard him speak on the H & H report at least 3 times in the last 6 months. He’s someone who knows God’s word. Yes, every word you wrote is true. Unless you are willing to ultimately submit yourself to God’s will in your life and believe his word above all other things…then truth will evade you. My favorite pep talk to myself when I’m having a bad day is…”It doesn’t matter what I think or feel…all that matters is that God’s word is true.” This has helped me through financial problems, health issues, family problems…just name it…we all go through it. When I get it through my head that NOTHING matters but God’s word…then I am victorious against anything that comes to attack. I’m armed and ready.

  13. We need to worship the Hebrew God not the Greek gods of Christianity.
Most Christian churches are against Israel = they are goats (Matt 25).
Dispensationalism and pre trib rapture are all anti Israel. Bottom line is, the church preaches pre trib, the church is out and God beats up the Jews! All a Jesuit lie from the 13th century but all luke warm believers (Christians) suck into this lie and live a life of sin. Church or Christianity is about money and making heaps of money. It is of the devil and is religion. Constantine changed all the Bible names back in 325AD.
Do your own research, do not trust any preacher for your salvation. Read John 9:31; 14:15; 21;23; 15:10; 14. “If you love Yahushua (Jesus) then keep My commandments, Jn 14:15. The Christian church breaks the 1st 4 commandments! Do not expect Yahushua to love you if you live in sin. Wake up believers before your destiny swallows you.
Check Messianic sites for the truth, which sets you free (Jn 8:31).
Blessings on all who seek the Truth.

  14. I looked on your site for answers to two questions and I did not find any comments.
First, Saturday or Sunday worship? Was Sabbath (Saturday) done away with and why?
Second, the feast days. Some would appear to be done away with after the cross. But it seems that there are some of these days in the 1,000 year reign. So, should Christians follow God’s instructions on the day of rest and should Christians observe some of the feasts?

    • Hi JimBo,

I’m not sure why I keep getting this question. You are elevating the Sabbath (or Shabbat) over that of the other laws of Torah. There are 613 laws. If you are going to follow the Sabbath law, you also need to follow the other 612 – as per Galatians 5. In fact, read all of Galatians.

So no, you will not find anything about Sabbath observance on this site, because it isn’t necessary.

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

  15. Let me clarify that I am not elevating the Shabbat over the other laws of the Torah. My question is, was it excluded and replaced with Sunday and why? If you do not wish to discuss the topic I understand, but can you email me with some links to articles on both sides of the topic so I can decide for myself? I do not wish to cause division or problems but since I will stand by myself and give an answer for what I do, it is necessary to be as certain, as I am able, in how to worship God and be obedient to all of His commands for me (one of many wild branches that have been grafted in).

Thank you for the work that you do.

    • Hi JimBo,

The first proof is the entire Book of Galatians. Paul really does lay it out well in that book.

      Then, there’s this:

Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand. One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks. – Romans 14:4-6

      I hope that helps, Jim.

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little

  16. Sadly it seems “righteous judgemental zeal” has taken the place of correcting and covering a erring believer in love.

I enjoyed the Tribulation video until the end where he went into his negative stance on pretty much everything and I guess in his depressing view of the Bible satan is far more powerful than God and is actually going to win at the end of the day. Christ’s sacfrifice for all humanity will only help (rounding it out here) about 2% and even then most Chrisitana will lose their salvation since at the end of the day it’s really up to them to “keep it!” Never mind we’re “flesh” and have no ability to not only save ourselves in the first place and especially somehow work enough “by the spirit” to “keep” our “free gift!”

I know you will say I don’t understand the straight and narrow and how salvation “works,” but frankly I believed for over 15 years I could lose my salvation and it drove me to hate God (well it was actually satan posing as God I found out) and into a mental institution.

Do you think satan is more powerful than God? NONSENSE!

Let me simply end this with read the Word with a few of the best translations you can find (and it’s not the KJV with thousands of errors), but more importantly pray for the Holy Spirit to fill you with ALL truth and then you will understand the statement “PERFECT LOVE CASTS
OUT ALL FEAR!” GOD DOES NOT GIVE US A SPIRIT OF FEAR!” That’s scripture! Period!!!!

    God bless!

    • Hi Jdoll,

I don’t really understand what you are saying here. I mean, yes, I understand your statements. But, I don’t understand why you are saying them.

Is it possible that you misunderstand to whom the video was addressed? Or, the point that it was trying to make?

It sounds to me like you had a pastor that taught only fear, and forgot the part about love. We need both. The sinful part of our nature must be taught to fear God. The spiritual part must be given freedom to love God.

As for the ability to lose our place in the Book of Life, I’m afraid that this is true. After all, it speaks of those who are ‘blotted out’ of the Book of Life, so we must accept that.

But, you are entirely correct in that God is more powerful than Satan. He will never allow any to fall, who He has truly chosen. That is an issue of ‘predestination’ and is not something that any of us can truly understand.

If you love God. If you have accepted the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for you. If you believe that He is God, that He lived, died and rose again – for you. If you dedicate your life to Him. If you choose Him always, to your dying breath.

      Then, you will be fine.

Even Paul, himself, did not truly know if he would finish his race the way that he wanted to. Not everyone who becomes a Christian, finishes as a Christian. I have seen this far too often, myself.

I pray that you will be at peace, Jdoll. And, that you will remain in the kingdom of Christ for all of your days.

      Yours in Christ,

      John Little
